I'm not sure how I feel about the Balance Team buffing a battleship with the specific mindset to encourage POB Sieges because a specific member of the community is very close to being able to return to us.

I'm okay with Wesker as a person - in fact, he took his ban quite admirably, outside looking in. But isn't buffing his favorite base sieging ship sort of uh, giving him special treatment? Aren't all players supposed to be treated equally and without bias whenever possible?

I can't be the only one thinking this.

Maybe the increased size and slow forward gun will make it more vulnerable to enemy fire, thus offering some form of balance. But when a faction is popular enough to the point of being able to log fifteen of the darned things (assuming it will become that popular again), did it really need to receive a buff? I realize that it takes a lot of dps in order to overcome a high Core POB's repair rate - maybe this is a temporary fix until we figure out a way to make POB Sieges fun for both sides, rather than something that favors the attacking party?

Personally, I'm against sieging POBs for profit, but I realize that it's perfectly inRP for some factions, especially ones with questionable moral alignments. The fact that weapons platforms are invincible now kind of requires a battleship that can out-range them with a 5,000m forward gun. But, not every faction has access to something like this, and then, what's the point of having weapons platforms if you can out-range them?

Are we to expect more forward guns for heavy battleships? Or special siege-slots for Carriers (Carriers carrying crazy corrosive kill-beams)? With the Jorm receiving a buff for POB Sieges, perhaps one or more other factions should receive a unique buff, as well. Maybe a Carrier-Specific gigantic, slow siege missile that deals a ludicrous amount of damage, but has no tracking and can be knocked off course by flaks?

Alternatively, perhaps we could embrace invincible weapons platforms by creating a base-sieging, close range bomber torpedo with a high enough dps and low enough projectile speed that makes them possible to use against anything but a stationary target. Something like a 50m/s Mega-Scorcher? At least this would enable defenders to log mere gunboats to counter the opposition, and the attacking party wouldn't have to spend 800m+ per person to siege a base. On top of this, sieges would no longer be a "tape the mouse button down and afk" activity. The bombers would have to actively dodge the weapons platforms in order to lob bombs at an enemy base.

On a final note, I will say it's neat to see Cerbs and Solaris Gatlings being buffed. With 16.67 turrets being a thing now, perhaps we could look into a 10.00 refire gun for fighters? The only one available right now is AI-Only, and might be an interesting gimmick weapon if given a low projectile speed with high range (600m/s with 850m?)

Sorry for bouncing all over the place with my thinking. It's early in the morning, and caffeine is being consumed.

Edit: Welp. I'm the Easter Fool! Hippity hop.

Yeah, I was kind of hoping it's an April Fool's jest, too, and that the post hasn't been updated, yet.

I'd rather be made a fool and spoke my mind, even if it's just a joke-post. The SRP system was released on April 1st one year before, so that technically means there's a possibility that these changes are actually planned. Still, here's hoping they might not be!

Such a lack of confidence in the competency of the dev team.

I don't care how much of this is a joke as long as the Cerberus thing is serious.

I'm not lacking confidence... I'm just asking questions. On the flip side, I'm fairly happy with the fighter balance changes, especially the Inferno and nomad torpedoes being buffed (despite my lack of nomad and outcast characters, heh).

Yeah time to edit this thread and move it to flood. It was an April fools joke, for those left wondering.
