I agree that GBs need decently balanced anti-snub offense. I don't think the current state of GB anti-snub is good.
But Vandals were just a lazy and zero-skill way to cheese snubs and ruin snub fights for other players. Sure, if you're on a GB and a swarm of snubs is attacking you, Vandal isn't that great. Your better off with a full turret setup. But if there is an existing snub fight and even one Vandal GB rocks up, it's incredibly annoying and very unbalanced for the existing fight and the snubs now have to deal with people lazily spamming the torp key, firing a missile at you that may randomly instant kill you and your teammates out of the blue. It was basically the oldschool NEMP but for use against snubs - which is ironic, because the Infocard for it says it's anything but, so maybe people will start to use them for their intended purpose?
The presence of a single Vandal GB was enough to suck the enjoyment out of a snub encounter. Yes, there are other ship classes, the world doesn't revolve around GBs sapping the fun out of other people's fights just because they want an effortless kill.

gunboats are entirely useless against more than two small craft unless the gunboat is specifically a very good pilot, or the fighters are actually just braindead and impulsing at the gunboat

Please name a time when missiles of any class have not been ez mode. It's a skill balancer

Did you not read the rest...? I said that yes, a Vandal on a lone GB against a group of snubs is an awful choice for your loadout in the current meta (then again, it's description calls it an anti-cap weapon). The problem is how irritating and unbalanced Vandals made existing snub fights. Basically they're not fun for anyone else but the person using them.

Do I need to bring up all the times Impy and I would just fly GBs with dual missiles (good ol' RM + Bret missile for that 20k damage) and just absolutely crap on all and any snubs with minimal effort? And this wasn't even in existing fights, that brief period where OG GB missiles did hull damage would let you sweep groups if you had the right loadout. In existing fights, it was just a curbstomp and an unbeatable support loadout.

Yes that is what I said. Missiles have always been ez mode, what makes the vandals any different. If anything they're the least ez mode they've ever been. Remember when missiles had unlimited ammo? I do.

Just use CMs like any other missile, there's even this big alert that Freelancer gives you when a missile is close
