If you think you can do everything better, you can always sign up. Otherwise honestly you should be grateful that there's anyone still working on this old and niche game really.
Unpaid is a synonym of low quality? It justifies the poor planning it suffers from? Unpaid means that the development team can delay it as long as it deems it 'necessary' - and we should be grateful for this?

It's a miracle this game is even getting attention this far in and some of you still have the audacity to complain citing "You can't handle criticism" when your criticism is just you bitching because you think you know better or deserve better.
Look forward to what you're getting, don't grieve over what you don't have.
It's been more than year. Something could've been released during that time.
Like new systems.
Assuming there are any.
Would be very funny if it took more than a year for system devs to delete more systems than to add any new ones.

Criticism whether useful or not, will always be poured over people regardless of whether they perform well. Update delays are not a newly introduced thing, especially where developers don't get paid for their immense work. You can use the argument that developers essentially do this out of a hobby and how they must, I repeat, must meet typical high expectations. If you work on something on the side, I can assume that you won't be a hundred percent fully invested in that thing, full time in other words, because it's something you do on the side. It's not perfect, it can't be, just like nothing else human made can.
People have their personal lives, plain and simple. I am fascinated how they comfortably endure insults and even outbursts that are poorly expressed all of the time. Specifically, it would be more productive if players would invest their time in helping rather than engaging in excessive criticism/hatred that really won't push one as much as helping them out would. I'm not blaming anyone with this, I'm simply saying that collectively we need to be more grateful. Even though this may sound insignificant, you'll actually realize it when you lose what you had. Nobody is perfect, and the time when we realize that arrogance gets us nowhere will lead to more pleasant changes. As usual, I support anything that can improve quality and give developers more time to present changes in a more favorable light. Whatever the case may be, the fact that changes are being made is enough.
I keep repeating that it is better and more fluid for the gameplay to periodically add things to the game, instead of dropping a big patch on the community.
It has been 453 days after the last announced hotfix.
During this time, the game was stagnant. Nothing of note happened. People got bored.
During this time, there was nothing to come back for, or new things to check out. Except for the occasional event, which spiked the playerlist a bit, and then it died again.
Do you honestly expect this patch will save the game if nothing else gets added in the year after? That is naive. The game needs regular changes to keep it interesting. Monster patches like this will just cause stagnation, as it hoards changes while people move on to play something else.
Furthermore, as I mentioned before: Don't put out release dates when you can't deliver. Especially when you tried to hype it beforehand. This will just come back like a boomerang. Also, the argument that you are unpaid is true, but it is also completely irrelevant. It is a task you took on yourself. Complaining afterwards that you have to work on things which you signed up for. No one forced you to.
I think the problem is not the mod being postponed, but rather when this postponement is announced. It's clear that the community is grateful for the work, but I think the development team must also understand that there has been some frustration on the part of the community, as we have been promising big changes for a long time, some good and others not so much. not to say bad, and on top of that with an announced date, which even led to the creation of events by the community. but whoever waited so long can certainly wait another month
I'm sure the devteam will take this lesson concerning release dates and announcements to heart. Obviously setting a release date and then calling it off the night before is Not Ideal and something the team was more than likely trying very hard to avoid. Communication can and should be improved upon.
Hopefully this delay will pay off with a smooth and mostly bug-free patch when it does finally release.

Based, and also very true.
There really is a limited number of people working on this, and to their credit are doing a pretty good job at it. From what I have seen of some of the changes, I am hopeful that when finally released, the game will be genuinely improved over its current state. This is obviously subjective and vague, but what I'm getting at is that if the dev team needs another month to make sure things are balanced correctly, fewer bugs are present or whatever it is they are doing, let them! who cares?!
Am I happy about all the rumors surrounding the update? No not really, but I think people who know me are aware that I am genuinely excited about this update overall. Am I disappointed that it's been delayed? Well yea, I am, but I'm not gonna shit on the dev team over it. I'm gonna hope that whatever extra time they need is worth it in the end, and I'm gonna move on with my life. As has been stated several times, none of them are being paid for this work, it's all done out of love for the game and community. And tbh, for "free" work, some of this stuff is pretty great; Shout out to Nyx's engines as just one example.
Yea, it's been a year or longer, but the long wait is almost over. Relax, take a deep breath, and just calm the frak down.
"But muh broken promises" Yes, that sucks. Play Starfield for 3-4 weeks and come back.
"It will get delayed again" Rinse and repeat the above ^
I want to know how many thousand dollars people complaining here spent on eternal-development-never-released game (you know what I'm talking about) and still defending it to this day, while talking crap about disco amazing developers...

This is attitude is as shitty as the people who complain about an unpaid product. So let's not.
But to be real, the delay could've been announced earlier. I guess that's why buzzes most. You kinda know when things happen or not.
