These are mutually exclusive statements.
The requirement to be in the official Discord should also be reconsidered, I think. Having beef with a discord mod shouldn't be grounds for the faction to be excluded from the process. Unless the system allows for substitute faction reps, then I guess it works.

I do however have a hot take (partially courtesy of Karst) to share on the whole 1ic / 2ic "problem": if your 1ic isn't willing to have a gov role in a Discord chat somewhere and work with the rest of their House to get stuff done, perhaps they're not that well-suited to being your faction's OFL.
I am not OFL and my only joy in Disco is improving LibGov and processing stuff for it. Under this, there will be zero incentive to be part of this community, seeing how last 3 years nerfed Ageira trading, latest update completely deleted it and was very little benefit in being official when all you are rewarded is sweating to get that timer running with your three members if you can find them to begin with.
This change, is absolutely unnecessary or overbearing.

Edit Reason: Added a detail. Know that this does not violated House Govt. Regulations, as some people might think. They will know who is concerned.

We have had this system running for almost a year, and we have had no problems. I personally wrote the rules/constitution and at the end before joining ("ascending", in the Great Assembly's terminology), the signature of a binding contract between the representative(s), the government, and the host and representative of the server, about this, while safeguarding the confidential nature of certain sensible matters. It has been violated once by a member of an unofficial faction. We have had a total of three - (one who was an observer of the Government, I will not give name) violations of our rules, this last member was dealt accordingly according to the rules.
As for the the potential slowness, I had a Gallic member DM me about how they would like to have their POB registered ASAP, and how we discussed the details in DM, and have had the POB under the Modular Base Registry as soon as they posted - this is not favoritism, this is people enjoying that I, and the other representatives, are at the disposal of the players and their needs, and the Gallic Government's duty, is first and foremost, to be available for the players playing Gallic. How will this be capable in this?
why not just have a volunteer or two come in the government discords instead?
a lot better than trying to get unbanned from a discord where half of the government is banned from because moderators are unstable at the best of times
We'll look at cases in which the OFLs are banned on the official discord. Either by reviewing the bans, or doing something like this:

But every OF that qualifies will certainly be represented, don't worry about that.

Or changing how things work in voting, processing votes, etc. etc.
Staff: We don't like how players can have the power to influence roleplay.
Staff: We will oversee everything, we will delete trade routes for factions, and overall do whatever we like.
Yeah guys, we all work to benefit Disco community. You don't need to micromanage everything, unless your whole idea is to control everything. Which is ironic, because you claim that governments are over controlling at the moment.

I have another question, please.
We have also a very specific rule where when a representative violate this rule, will be banned permanantly from the Discord and lose his privileges a representative, or advisor (we also have a system of advisors, who are generally not affiliated with the faction, to help our Assembly get the "best" possible course of action.
What would happen if this rule is violated (it already has been violated once), but due to the rule requiring an OF representative to be present: what would happen? Or, if this person violate other rules, such as violating the Discord ToS, or posting NSFW content, or insulting members; how would the Gallic Assembly (in this case), would reply?

Also Karst, what are existing govs going to do with years worth of logs, archives on decisions and discussions?
in case of Rheingov, the chat owner left the game years ago. So adding bots to move posts/info is a bit tricky. It will have to be done manually
Also will we be getting the rights to edit our gov section? Can we add a similar style to our current gov? How is this handled?
In case of Rheingov, we have 6 voting rooms, a discussion room and a vote archive. Where votes and links to the relevant posts are memorialized for posterity.
