Thing with killing GBs in VHFs is you need either Infernos or Del Cids...GB shields are their main defence (strange, when compared to a fighter, whose main defence is it's armour...and the fact that, in vanilla, GBs didn't mount shields...)
Well, I m Navy gunboat capitan, I use Cap8 armor, 5 guns, 1 battle razor, 1 missile, 1 foward gun.
I also train alot fights again fighters, bombers, gunboats in PvP.
And I will share my little experience here.
First of all, capital slow, fighter/bomber fast.
Fighter bomber can escape and laught, capital have hard time to escape and can only pray when bombers and fighters rape him slowly.
Firsts/bombers can gang up on 1 capital and thanks this beat huge fleet.
Capitals have hard time to cooperate again fighters/bombers, hard to aim many small fast targets with cruizers and battleships around.
Now lets back to gunboat.
Gunboat is lighter fighting capital ship with one main destination, anti-fighter, anti-bomber,
I mean, guns with 1400 speed, very fast missiles taking out shield, high agility, strong shield, weak firepower as capital ship, it say for itself, gunboats are destined to be anti fighters.
Ofcourse you can use anti capital ship set up like pulse and razor, and navy gunboats use foward gun for it, but there are still agile gunboats like rouge and hacker gunboat, those think are fast, small, and have strong shield.
Most of fights base on pilot skills and fighting style.
1 VHF vs 1 gunboat is easy fight for gunboat ( movie where VHF solo gunboat is very scary )
2 VHF vs 1 gunboat is fair fight.
1 Bomber vs 1 gunboat, it is victory for gunboat.
2 Bombers vs 1 gunboat, here is hard part, for me it is most fair fight, I just fly foward in navy gunboat dodging and use back look to shot, it is hard, but alow to avoid SANC and give bombers some damage,
however if I fight 2 agile bombers, oh man, I m down.
The worse is when 4 bombers or 4 VHF jump on me, it is just slow scary lose when you not can do anythink, 4 bombers can beat up 4 capital ships and ignore VHF escort ( it is just, aim shot, dodge, after he recover energy, aim shot, and dodge again ).
So the more fighters/bombers again more capitals, the easter it is for fighter/bombers.
And no matter do you use anti fighter set up, or if you use anti fighter gunboat, they will just gang up on you and finish you off.
And video where 1 VHF beat 1 gunboat, well, it just prove that it is worse that I think it is.
Still, if you somehow manage to have fair fight, 1 vs 1 gunboat, 2 gunboat vs 1 cruizer, 2 VHF vs 1 gunboat, 3 VHF/Bombers vs 3 gunboat, it should be fun.
6 fighters/bombers vs 6 gunboat, 4 bombers vs 4 gunboats, 2 gunboats vs 1 gunboats, it is just not fun, you lose, and opponent get out without using 1 nano bot.

Light Fighter
you cant get hit by gunboats+ and u can rape fighters/bombers, also in packs u can rape gunboats.
You can get Loki with Inferno and 5 guns and rape everything. Or (at least more RP-wise setup) Loki with 4 Debs and Razor.

Screamers work just fine, despite they're limited, unfortunately.
Debs work fine as well.
