"Kampei!" shouted out Raikoke in unison with the rest of diplomats and leaders.
The light framed woman made her way to the podium. As if on cue a servan had rushed forward to place a stepping platform so she wouldn't be hidden from view. Before her was the Sigma Trade Pact with a pen ready for her to sign. She looked at her fellow diplomats and then to all those now gathered in the room. In a clear confidant voice she began to speak out to those in attendance.
"O hayou gozaimasu everyone, it's good to see so many here to witness this wonderful occasion. Today is the culmination of many months of negotiation and agreements. This is indeed an momentuous occasion and I am humbled that with a stroke of this pen I will be playing my part in making history today. To the Chancelor, RepEx and all Rheinland listening in I salute you and thank you for inviting us here and working hard with us to make this happen. Here's to a bright and profitable future and may this pact shine out in the Sirius sector as an example of putting past and prejudices to rest in order to ensure a better tommorow. To my fellow Guild Masters I congratulate you all on making it through this long journey and to see that through patience and diplomacy we can indeed find an open path to avieve our goals. To all who are here and those tuned in for this announcement I cheer out Kampei!. A new age is in the horizon filled with co-operation and reward for all. Rejoice in this moment for it will be remebered for generations to come."
With that Raikoke raised the pen for all to see then set it to the treaty where she signed her name with the others. She held up the signed document to the gathering and once again shouted, "Kampei" before putting the now signed treaty on the podium and resumed her place with her peers.
One of the conference doors opened slowly, and Guild Master Taro Katsuo stepped into the hall with a small retinue of Guild aces. He walked up to the Kanzler and bowed deeply, and said:
- Honourable Rheinhardt-sama, please accept my earnest apology for being unable to personally attend at the talks between our people. I've left the defence of Guild space to the very capable Commander Satoru Akimitsu while I'm on leave for a limited period of time, and as such I decided to come here to sign this wonderful treaty. This treaty will be the beginning of a brighter, safer future in the Sigmas, Rheinland, and Sirius all together.
He bowed deeply yet again infront of the Kanzler, and then turned, bowing to each Guild Master and Rheinland representative. He stepped up to the podium, and signed the Sigma Trade Pact with his name.
- Kampai! He shouted, while resting the pen at the podium and stepping down. He walked over to Admiral Malte and expressed his delight regarding the shared border patrols, and conversed with the other Guild Masters and representatives in the hall.
Kanzler Rheinhard was standing on the tribune.
All the representatives took up position right behind him, like you would line up some college graduates for the final picture.
It indeed was for one picture, only minutes away from going through the universe via CNS.
This picture would still be found in books thousands of years in the future - if Sirius and humanity managed to survive.
"Meine sehr geehrten Damen und Herren, thinking of a verry long time back, before humanity settled down in Sirius, a man said some markable words. Who this man was is not beeing known, but his quote survived all the years until today.
"This is one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind" - Unknown
Let this sign be my small step and the Sigma Trade pact the giant leap for mankind and our combined great nations.
With this words Kanzler Rheinhardt signed the treaty.
All present representatives, visitors and members of the CNS or other press networks stood up from their seats. The following standing ovation would last over 10 minutes long.
Admiral Malte left within the first minute of the applause, to ensure the joint operations could start without any delays. Her presence was not needed anymore, since the military has no room within the diplomatic celebrations. At least this was her point of view. Beeing mistaken will make her feel sore soon enough, when finding the invitation to the gala at the same night.
The parade uniform was pinching all the time.
