Mcneo, you qualify as a Vet by now, methinks. Member Number 930? Show some pride!
I dont know whether to take that as a complement or an insult...lol.
If I am a vet, i am by no means a rich one:crazy:.
------
anyway:
Manhatten to Omicron Delta...I loved that run. Fell asleep in Alaska once on some late night trading when no one was around. Woke up in my bed with the screen saying "you have died".
However, to counter the cheapness of battleships back then, they were alot weaker. I seem to recall battleship weapons travelling at 800m/s or round abouts there. Gunboats were useless before their massive upgrade, and a Cruiser could take out a battleship with no problems. Even a single fighter could take a battleship. I can guarantee at that point, that battleships were worth that kind of money. In fact, the prefered ship of choice was the good old RavenClaw. I still love that ship:nyam:. Oh yeah, Pirateing was almost impossible back then. CDs didnt work, and the shields on transports were pretty large...
I remember getting some ELF fighters with my battlerazors on my bounty hunter battleship (which is in dry dock until i can be bothered to find a new second store for the shadow stalkers). It was fun. The ELF fighter just stopped infront of me, and my finger depressed the "1" key on my keyboard to fire my front right battlerazor. Good times...
And no where near as much flames. Though I do admit to causeing some myself, with the odd phantom:$.
---------
So....Topic time:
Credit cards should stay. They are very useful for those who like to trade...and then store their cash on certain armoured transports permanently grounded on Manhatten...or a certain Interspace Commerce bar on Newark station where a certain large trading group works.....
They're not HURTING anybody...and yes, that was a compliment. You're one of the first thousand, and you've been here for almost a year. Good enough for me.
I intend to make a bloody rich faction. With Credit Cards, that can happen, since the FLHOOK thingy won't let a char amass more than a billion clams.
Ooh...I'll stage weekly trading events were everybody gets their trains on a single run and we trade all day. Whomever gathers the most moolah by the end of the day gets a brand new Destroyer, all expenses payed. We'd be rich before the end of the week.

Hoodlum it was possible to make 20mill in 10min at the same time most people made 10mill in 10min on delta, you seem to be forgetting the New Berlin to Sigma-13 run though less profit per run it was so fast that it was twice as profitable.
So that was 10mill X 6 = 60mill an hour on delta
20mill X 6 = 120mill an hour on New Berlin
So it was actualy possible to make 100mill in 50min
I miss that run not for profit but because I could do 1 run after the server mantinance message if I went quickly:P
Ok so that was just slightly away from the topic.

I've been mildly miffed by one-shot weapons since their implementation, oh so long ago. I remember the days when fights were a matter of who could aim better, rather than who could aim a single shot. - Virus
Hmmm, so we've established that they're only useful for hording money...hmm.
So what about having money transfer patrols in the systems then. Then pirates (like me) could actually turn a buck easy enough. Of course put them on Crusiers and such like so that it'd hard for us to do, but still, I need to make a living somehow.
It's a great idea, and I'd very much like to see it implemented, but it couldn't be more than a couple million credits a ship or it would get WAAAY too easy to amass a fortune, since any idiot in a Saber with a Nova (or just a set of working guns, for that matter) can take down an NPC capship.

*evil grin* why not just give the NPCs if possible armor upgrades or shields possibly both then you'd cherish that 3Mil you made trying to kill that thing no matter what you used.
Yes but then when people get a cruiser it would become easy cash and would not take long to earn a fortune and get a BS and then it gets even easier.

Yes, that's the problem. Maybe we could restict the patrols to guard systems...that might make it much more difficult. Easy money for the factions, more difficult for Ye Olde PvP Whore.

We need better ways of making money than just trading. We should have like huge RP events where everyone has to make it on a certain station and buy a special commodity, and it can be guarded by the admin team or something. If you make it out alive, you can sell the commodity for 80 mil.
I am a long-absent Supreme Commander, Executive Commander, Grand Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Captain in the mighty Hellfire Legion. I have returned, and am on an urgent mission from Drake Thastus to return the Legion to its former glory, and to claim the galaxy for its own. Only then will I be able to rest.
