Only one minor issue I noticed.
When I type something in chat, and before pressing enter if I want to return with left and right arrows to correct something, I can't. There is letter A in circle next to window on right side in which you are writing, and it doesn't allow me to return back in written text.
Dunno can this be fixed, it's not some major problem.

Of course your newly set-up installation of 7 runs faster than your old, probably never defrag'd installation of XP (there's a reason why you should reformat Windows systems every year or so). I doubt a new 7 installation performs better than a new XP installation though, and the benchmarks seem to agree with me. 7's only advantage over 64bit XP is DirectX 9 - apart from that, all it has are a load of disadvantages, like the horrible GUI, "security features" compromising your actual security, built-in spyware, rootkits and lockout mechanisms...
Oh, and yes, I've tried it. And Vista. And there's a reason why 7 is called Vista SP3.[/threadderail]

All I know is Windows 7 Home Premium does NOT have XP mode available. You gotta have Windows 7 Professional or better to get the XP mode.

I've noticed that too ... dunno what the glowing A is for ... haven't been able to click on it or anything.

XP is old, slow and obsolete. Win 7 actually has directx 11 and below. I went from XP to 7 and glad I did
' Wrote:Running Freelancer on Windows 7 Professional. The big difference between Professional and Home Premium is listed on the back of the box ... specifically, "Run many Windows XP productivity applications in Windows XP Mode." In other words ... Windows 7 Home Premium does NOT support XP legacy stuff. So you may and may not be able to get old stuff to run on it. Gotta fork out the extra $$$ to be able to run old software that ran under XP.
Say, "thank you Microsoft" and "thank you Bill Gates" ... for caring about us peons.
Thats not quite true...
the legacy stuff is still there, most xp aps work under vista and win7.
then there is stuff called compatibility mode. this is more or less deactivate the new stuff and run only the legacy stuff.
the xp mode in professional is a virtual machine, you also have to download it first. the xp mode is for unclean written software that uses direct system calls instead of interfaces like direct X or api calls. games wont run in xp mode as there is no 3d support.
:yahoo:Freelance doesn't even need compatibility mode, it runs just fine under normal windows 7 home premium 64 for me.:yahoo:
Windows 7 64bit on an HP NC6320. Uses the Intel 945G video chipset.
MAJOR graphics problems in menu system and random text flashed on screen.
Searched and tried every solution, bar a rebuild with an XP partition and installing Freelancer there.
Apart from that game runs ok, bit of chop/slowdown in busy scenes but is most likely on board graphics as its a Core Duo with 4GB.
Would buy a Liberty Ale for anyone who can fix the above issue. I have tried everything !!
