we kinda got that alex. Perhaps if you would offer something constructive past negative comments posts after post I would get an idea thats fine for you. Although I already have few...
Either way, I don't want to make a poll because the opinion here does not always reflect the situation in the game. Not yet at least.
fuel idea is good, but it's too realistic, maybe only implement on human fighters, but not capital ship (in a fight, capital ship dies very fast) but on the opposite, fighter vs fighter could take forever.
and buying large amount of fuel for flying cap is just gonna waste alot of money, on the opposite, fighter just only have that many cargo space.
1. Hfuel becomes two commodities, Cap-Hfuel and Fighter-Hfuel. Both of these are perishable, but at a SLOW rate, say 1unit lasts 5m or 10m for Fighter-Hfuel and 1unit lasts about 1/2 hour for Cap-Hfuel
2. Hfuel trade is split, but Cap-Hfuel prices have the same price structure as current Hfuel in terms of commodity-table multipliers, but the base price of cap-Hfuel is 5 to 10 times what Cap-Hfuel costs.
3. FLHook it so that small craft (fighters, bombers, freighters, transports under 999 cargo, including Gunboats maybe) can only buy fighter Hfuel, while caps (transports > 1000k cargo, cruisers, destroyers, battleships, etc) can only by the Cap-Hfuel.
4. FLHook it that if there is no fuel in the hold, impulse is reduced to 1/2 normal, there is no cruise, and no thruster (maybe allow thruster, but no recharge).
Cons: (because that's what you all care about anyway)
It's going to cost some credits to fly any of your craft then. boo hoo. a few thousand credits in the current Sirius economy is paltry.
Cap ships will cost more to run. Hello? They ARE expensive to run, but not overly so. if one unit of Cap-Hfuel costs 10k and lasts 1/2 hour, 10 units lasts five hours. How many of you are on your cap for more than 5 hours? It would also give you incentive to NOT DIE, causing you to think about how you fly.
Transports will have to shuck out for Cap-fuel. Yes you will. deal with it.
Players will complain. Players always complain (see most of Alex's posts in game-enhancing threads). A lot of good additions to game and storylines are shot down because of the Vocal Minority.
Pros: Realism. You'll have to think. Heck, it may even be able to be set as an autobuy option to buy 10u of Hfuel if you dock. Or set it to what you like.
Tenders are an option. You won't be completely helpless, but it will take a while to get to where you're going if you run out of fuel.
Strategy and tactics come into play when entering fights. You can't just "engaijin" when you have to think "do I have the fuel for this?" tactics.
I like the idea personally, and would be willing to fork over the dough each time I take a ship out.
Xoria would have to add Hfuel to EVERY STATION at some price. I'd like to see a base price, with the source (GMG bases) at a fraction of the baseprice (.75 or so) and the rest at the base price, except for certain sell-points like it is now.

Yes, it adds new options to the game, but at the end of the day, I do not come here to break my brain out in thought and think like an Admiral, I come here to relax and have some fun role-playing.
