Why would a nation that is backed into a corner like Bretonia waste that many resources on a single ship? If that ship gets into a pitched battle it will be the primary target, that is it's job after all, and we know what bombers can do to a capitol ship. Bretonia would be using an enormous chunk of their limited resources on a major gamble. How many Kusari Battleships could that dreadnought defeat before it's destroyed? Maybe 2? ALL those resources would be gone forever, now there is nothing standing between all the rest of the Kusari battleships and your front door and you can't afford to build more battleships since you used everything you had.
So is that really worth it economically? No.
Bretonia could build several dozen bomber wings instead for the same cost, bomber wings that could destroy every battleship in the Kusari fleet.
A nation in desperate straights doesn't build huge expensive ships, they find a cheaper alternative and use numbers and tactics to try and get back on even ground.
Thats no escuse for short-changing one side though. 800k armor and 1400 bots/bats vs 1350k armor and 2400 bots/bats PLUS heavy plant, makes no sense balance wise.
' Wrote:Juni mentions that the kusari fleet lost at new tokyo, and rheinland threatened to bombard the planet. Thats why you face knf ships later in the sp campaign.
The fleet losing at NT, and losing the fleet at NT, are two different things.
Although, I am going to double-check whether that is exactly what Juni says, before anything.
I thought that the Bretonians recently changed the bomber to a heavy bomber in order to challenge the Bretonian Battleship? As far as I am aware, 2 (possibly even 1) Challengers would easily be able to take the Kusari Battleship out. After all, the Kusari Battleship might be great against other capital ships, though it's anti-fighter/bomber capacity is extremely limited. It makes more sense for Bretonia to upgrade its bombers rather than to create a new dreadnaught in hope of challenging the Kusari Battleship (Which apart from having all 18 turrets firing forward or in a somewhat forward direction, also has a super-slim profile making 1 on 1 battles even harder).
If things are still unbalanced, just give Bretonia more smaller anti-cap ships. They don't have that many resources to be creating such big ships.
I do not think that giving Bretonia a few new ship's(including a Dread) should be based strictly on RP. If that was the case, the order would not have recieved so many new ship's since 4.85. Yes they are secretive, but in no way do they have even a fraction of a houses resources.(not even bret's). Just about every major house/faction got some new gear. Bretonia, and Rheinland got the least. I also agree that IF all Bretonia ship's use Heavy armour/power over speed/agailty,then why are the Bretonia BS's barely above most Battle cruiser's in armour? Also if you want to make a RP reason why Bretonia suddenly gets a Dread? Easy. They are low on resources Beause! they been secretly been building a new class of dreads in secret, in the Guard system, and did not send any into the war, until they finished testing them, and had a good number.
This is a game people. Just have fun,and stop finding reason's to shoot down other's sujestion's,or fun.
Well considering the BRetonian gb is actually the same size as the bretonian destroyer, and the bretonian destroyer is LARGER than the knf destroyer....
Id say both sides need one hell of a rebalance. Also, why the hell does kusari, with its gb-sized cruiser get defence guns wile bretonia's were removed?

Now I have to disagree. Bretonia has an even greater military potential than the KNF, but since they didn't deem necessary to rebuild a fleet after the nomad war, they were unprepared against the Kusarians who somehow managed to find the ressources to build vessels. While the KNF has a large fleet, pretty much all of it's usable ressources were used into building it.
If Bretonia would've build an army in the last 20 years, it would be the strongest of the 4 houses, military speaking. They are the richest house in term of raw material, save for Gallia. Basically, all they need to do is to hold down a line until they can steam roll through Kusari, and this ship would be the steam roller.
