How exactly are you starting the game? You are supposed to run just the regular Freelancer executable, not from FLMM or such.
i used Freelancer.exe and not FLMM or DSupdate. i found the problem. my Virus Protection stopped the transfer of certain files because they were suspicious. i'm able to see and play on the servers once more. i apreciate all the help that was given in diagnosing the problem.
