As said, we do have a Lot of Developers now. About the Space, the Mod is actually small. Megabyte Size I mean, look at the Others. For Example, Discovery is 90mb small, while the Freeworlds (could only find 1.66) is 225mb big. There is a Lot of Space that could be used.

I didn't say that, if a Faction gets official it immediately receives some unique Ship. Also, I did never mention that the Faction would be judged with that what is written down, because that is no Roleplay.

It would depend more on Activity and the in Game Behavior of the Faction itself. Also, Ships would only given to Factions that deserve such Things. The KoF for Example wouldn't deserve a unique Ship, looking at the Liberty Navy they sure would deserve something like that. How does a colonial Colony Ship sound for your Reptile? How does a Super Train sound for Kishiro?

Also, the Ship(s) would surely be restricted. A capital Assault Vessel would be restricted to one, a super Transport to two. That's where I was actually leading to.

Why do they have to be super?
Why can't, Kishiro as you said, just get a special transport. One that's perhaps slightly better than say, the Ryujiin.

Not enough to go 'Oh hey I want that ship lemme join!', but something to benefit members.
Take the ALG Mover for example.
I can't really see any other reason other than RP that you'd want that ship. It looks kinda cool, and you HAVE to be in ALG to have it.
Yes, I know you don't have to be in the Faction, but how many ALG players do you see? Let alone flying them.
Corporations even more than PVP based factions.
What's a good reason to join a Corp right now?

I say more power to the Official Factions. They're the ones driving development in the first place, both RP wise and Mod wise, so why the hell not?

Oh, and with these only slightly pimped ships I suggest, I don't see any problem with the factions handing them out to indies that apply for them.

They would not need to be super-duper-epic-awesomeness. Look at the Ship I linked in the first Post. That would could have better Stats than the Dread, but not like unbelievable strong. Just like x1.2 of the Dread. At least, there is only one to kill.

fully understandable but why should they improve the biggest baddest nastiest ships to be even bigger badder nastier?Makes no sense in the eyes of RP.
Just cause faction leaders ,,deserves,, somthin' even bigger? It is still the who has bigger...world case?
Or just cause they are so good and trustworthy roleplayers that they NEED even bigger ships to keep up their good work? It makes no sense.

In other words:
special unique ships for factions : Okey sure thing (if it mean uniques fighters, freighters, transports, possible gunboats or so- wiht graphic improvement, with tags colours markings painted on them (example: barghest I think that is really a unique ship with amazing stats in its category, and it would be easy to paint one to green put some leaf on it and tell its the Molly unique bomber)

super mega giga battleships: hell no. No need for even bigger battleships (ofc in SOME SPECIAL cases its okey. Give 1 (!!!) or 2 (!!!) factions a super bs, than wait for a year or more till the other factons will be able to reach that level. I think it would not destroy the balance.

summa summarum:
Uniquie ships sure: all offical faction would deserve it (start painting instead of building full new things)

Super mega battleships: hell no. irreal and anti rp that all factons come out in the wery same mod with their biggest baddest vehicles. Pfff..

so many developers graphicians artists mouth-openers, and noone started to re-paint some ships for the offical factions to represent their colours in space? Swap some engines, re-paint some models add MINIMAL stat improvements(+5-10 thrust speed,+1 cm or mine dropper,+200 cargo space or whatever) on otherwise balanced and correct little vessels and voila :you have a huge pack of unique (and even powerful) ships for officals. and that would be RP case and somthing what is uesful for newcomers in the factions.
BUt seriously you are talking about charming new palyers to the factions with superhuge battleships? eek...


Building even bigger gunholders=you want even bigger guns. And thats not rp. its called military advantage aka PVP. WHY do you need even BIGGER ships instead of ships with proper colours and some minimal added stats?

I don't know. Some goodies here and there, like a flagship or special ships for SOF operators would be nice. A separate shipline for faction members however doesn't strike me as a really good idea. All it'd do would be placing an unnecessarily high workload on the devs with little to no reward. In fact, I think it would be a really, really good idea to cut down on the amount of available ships - many factions that by no means have access to the necessary infrastructure and brainpower to design and build their own shipline do not only have their own fighters and bombers, but, in some instances, warships, too. Big kudos to the Xenos here. I'd love to see more factions following their example, placing RP over getting shiny new toys, but I guess I better keep dreaming...


To get back to the topic: No, I think it'd be much better if you'd simply allow factions to police their own ships. Some factions would greatly benefit from being made adminrep-only, too, but that's a different story altogether.

You won't attract people to factions by having unique ships that maybe only the upper echelons of the faction will have the ability to fly. As was mentioned before, the only way to attract people is to offer something special to the recruits besides offering the top dogs another shared to ship.

I'm looking into my pom pom and I can see arguments, loads.

Give it to one and you gotta give it to all.

Not every faction needs one, I don't think planetform needs an uber planeterraform-o-ray cruiser, do you?

But in all honestly, I'd much rather like to see more in terms of mass customisation to reflect the current state of world affairs.

If factions should get anything like this, it should be one ship, HF, VHF or Bomber class only. Maybe not even bomber. Just HF or VHF. Everyone in a faction flies one after all.
