The Corsairs shield is indeed a normal setting. You cannot buy any other 10th level shields in the game (let me note that two of the game's best items are Corsairs material: that shield and the Tizona del Cid guns). That's probably because, as the Corsairs have no allies, they are incredibly hard to become friends with, and their bases are in the middle of nowhere. Even the Outcasts go to Buffalo Base, and that's in the middle of NY.
Making a level difference maximum for PvP seems to be the most unintrusive way to solve the level problems. However, we should also have a rule for not attacking freighters at a lesser difference, as a level 50 fighter can obliterate a level 50 freighter easily. I'd suggest a 7 level difference between fighters, and perhaps requiring fighters attacking freighters to be of less level than the freighter -- maybe even as low as 5 or 10 levels lower.
I was helping someone in the Unknown systems get some Nomad guns, and when I came back I had 8 surplus Nomad Cannons that sold for less than 5,000. Is there any way we could increase their value, perhaps encouraging Nomad hunting as a trade?

To encourage more Nomad hunting, make the chance of them dropping guns much less. They give them away too cheaply. That way, you might be able to sell them for more, but to players rather than bases.

Prices on nomad guns will not be changed, however the chance of drop will be decreased significantly if I find out how to do this, most probably I will.
I tried to make the camera look like original Freelancer ships cameras, they are because most of those ships are much longer than original Freelancer. So if the camera is further away, you won't see anything except the nozzles.
However I'd like to hear other opinions on camera offset. Maybe I'm wrong on this point.
This mod is heavily biased toward trading, especially if anyone wants to fly a battleship. I don't mind that too much, but it would be nice if the value of the highest level missions could be increased at places like Freeport 9, Crete and Malta.
I have to add though that I haven't visited those places yet in this mod, so I might be in for a surprise? After all, I know there are some FL players that only like to fly missions.
On the other hand, one could turn to piracy...

The missions are fine as they are, Daedalus. You'll notice that Ruiz base (Omicron Beta) offers missions that pay around 1.5 million credits each. In a Battleship, it should only take you a minute to get rid of those pesky GMG Eagles. If you don't want to work for the pirates, tough luck. It's all part of the balanced universe.

Soup,
Oh, I love working for the pirates, I'm thinking of becoming one! Watch out, you advanced traders. I'll let you know when I turn to the dark side.
I should have trusted Igiss I suppose to have already addressed this missions/trading balancing issue!! Though if it needs a battleship to get the high payments, it still might be necessary to trade first. We'll see. Looking forward to visiting those systems when I get my gunboat..

I actually HAVE been working for the pirates for some time now, and they do indeed offer decent pay for some missions. I got itchy trigger fingers after trading my way up to around 10% the price of a battleship, so i abandoned that plan and grabbed a class 10 very heavy fighter and haven't regretted it yet. Planet Crete and the Tripoli (sp?) shipyard regularly offer missions paying between $150k and $250k that only take ~10 minutes and some reflexes to get through.
As for preying on other players still running the trading route, it's just not worth it.
1.) noone harassed me while i was trying to carve out my little corner of the sector
2.) a very heavy fighter only has ~90 cargo holds, i't's a waste to take someone out for $50k-$100k worth of cargo.
