' Wrote:I just reached lvl 40 on my first char (I feel very proud of myself) and am wondering what ID to buy. I'm max friendly with Junkers, Outcasts, Blood Dragons, Xenos (yes, because enough law-people hate me) Liberty Rogues, GC, and Lane Hackers.
Here's my newb-ish question:
I can't decide between Outcast, BD, or just general Pirate ID. I would get BD, except the main thing I want to do is smuggle, and I'm not sure if it'd play into RP if I was a BD smuggling cardamine, seeing as they don't like cardamine. I'd be Outcast, then, except I want to be BD! And I don't even know what the difference is between the general Pirate ID and the other two, other than it's... well, general. Maybe you could explain this to me?
Well, Blood Dragons are more like noble ronin, fighting against what they see as a usurper on the throne of Kusari. And they aren't fond of cardamine, despite being allied with the Outcasts.
Outcasts are the drug lords. They have immense power and influence over the criminal underworld of Sirius, not to mention lots of money. They handle the cardamine trade and deliver it to their various pawns, such as the GC and Liberty Rogues.
A generic Pirate ID is just that... Generic. You aren't 'officially' tied to any single pirate faction (though your tag would give you some affiliation). Gives you a bit more leeway, but you wouldn't have the support of a large group behind you. As far as 'stats' go, there isn't really any difference between any of the pirate IDs, it's all just the RP behind it.
There's also a new Outcast smuggling faction starting up, the Blue Lotus Syndicate... Might look for it in the Disco RP Factions forum. *cough*

but they are still a far way off....still, you could probably RP having a dragon ship,
but, please.
RP a GC Girl.
they are all girls, you know.
Unselie: I know enough Japanese history (ancient source of the Kusari) to know that Bushido is a philosophy associated with male Samurai. What I can't understand is how the GC player faction is called Bushido which would be an excellent name for a Blood Dragon player faction, but a very poor choice for a GC player faction. Were the members of Bushido rejected by the Blood Dragons, because the Blood Dragons don't welcome cross-dressers? Were the members of Bushido allowed into the GC, because the GC don't require a medical exam prior to joining? If any Bushido or NovaPG take offense at my comments/questions, blame my Kusari character, Lon_Shimabokuro (named for a male I knew who was descended from real Samurai), who has a Freelancer ID for now.
I've actually working on my background for Alejandro Velez, and I've been thinking that he's the result of a "ships in the night" fling between an Outcast smuggler and a GC woman... But when he was born and turned out to be a 'he' rather than a 'she', his mother shipped him off to Malta.
I honestly know nothing about the GC other than what's in their info card. Anything I'm missing? Do they generally kill male children or anything like that? Does their fanatical feminism go so far that they're all lesbians?
No, they don't kill children....they save children...well, girls anyway, but I don't think they will kill any child...
and..no. again.
its a political philosophy, and you cant change ones sexual orientation....its a physiological thing.
also, I kinda don't think she would ship him off at birth...before puberty, but he should probably have memory of his mother, and visit on occasion....
also...I think this GC tangent may warrant a split...

Very true, and about what I expected... But you never know, they could try and 'force' things. I read one sci-fi book that featured a space habitat owned by a wealthy commune of lesbians who reproduced through donors and who's daughters never had contact with any men. Not even pictures.

That would work quite well, seeing as Alejandro is a cardamine smuggler. Good reason to visit Mom and keep good relations with the GC.

Probably, if the discussion is going to be continued...
