Won't this go against copyright laws?
Not nitt-picking, just keeping a eye out.;)

The best thing to do at the end of the day is to go down to the local and ask for a introduction game, ask them to advise you on your motivations, Necrons or Chaos. They will try get you to buy some thing, for the store sake, but most of them will be generous in realistic information. If not all will. I know I did ^^

OMG I bought that book when it first came out back in the stoneage.
Ahh the memories, all weekend sessions, beer, chillie:)

Warhammer 40K I was an Eldar freak. I liked that Falcon Grav Tank I built my whole army about that model.

If I can remember it was
Aspect warriors
Dark Scorpions
Grav tank
2 bikes
farseer
another mage cant remember his name
and an Avatar

EDIT:
i have played alot of 40k armies and a few Fantasy armies.
Azrael, I am long in the tooth *hint hint* i love space wolves. Although my army is more blood claw orientated. hehe
although i hate GW fanboi's i think you should go Space marines for your first army because it is very Cost effective and easy to paint. although you can go for what ever army, my personal favorite armies are High elves and Eldar. High elves are very roman like and Eldar are a "Combined arms" army so each unit/group has to do its job for victory instead of maybe only CC do their job for the win.
i suggest http://uk.games-workshop.com/default.aspx for a look before you choose. look around abit have a look for what you like, if you want a fun and helpful Forum that you can talk about Warhammer in for advice withpainting and modeling and such go to www.librarium-online.com its a very friendly forum.
