Meh, cant help but agree, Corsair Empire sounds a bit farfetched. Corsairs will always be more disorganised than that to me. The Corsair Confederacy, Corsair Sovereignty, Corsair People, something a bit less empirical.

The Roman empire wasn't always ruled by an Emperor. It has been both ruled by emperors and by it's senate.

Well, the Corsairs are probably the most imperialist faction in Disco (apart from Gallia), and 'Confederacy' or 'Republic' or any other term implies its a democracy, which it isn't. The common people of Crete don't have any say in how things are run, its all down to whoever has the most cash, the biggest guns and doesn't mind using them on his own people (i.e. whoever is on the Elder Council).

So I think 'Empire' fits better than any term that connotes democracy or anything other than a rather violent oligarchy/dictatorship.


Though, I still vote for there to be a God-Emperor ye >.>

christ, talking about semantics here, when the fact stays that they can kick ass of the zoner super alliance without greater effort, as proven in the past few weeks.

primitive said it. the corsairs are ruled by an oligarchy (elders), and yes, the council has seats for two or three indie players (montezuma and heraklion), who represent no faction but voice the opinion of indies there.

republic would mean corsairs vote their representatives. federation would mean that the corsair nation as a whole would consist of several separate sovereign political bodies. neither of those is true.

its an oligarchy empire. just call them cannibals in the future. all the cool kids are doing it;)
