@ coin: initially it might just be a ship pack, with all the ships in CMP format, with their MAT files, appropriate hitboxes, and hardpoints. as i get time and learn more skills, i will probably start to expand it into a total conversion mod, yes. NPCs will probably still here, because for some of the ideas i have had (for example, carriers controlling npc drones), id need NPCs obviously.
@ cabulb: features and ideas- regarding that, ive had quite a few ideas, and after speaking to cannon i know that some ideas may be more than possible than just ideas. i guess when it comes to making the mod itself instead of just a ship pack, id start trying to work on implementing the stuff in.
@ kanga: discovery and EVE are quite different actually, but in terms of comparing other mods to EVE, yeah. i guess you could call discovery somewhat similar to EVE in certain aspects.
as you people will hopefully follow this thread, i will be putting updates here as i go along with the work. for now, the first four-five posts are going to be for the ship renders with their new textures, glow maps etc. the plan is to convert all the caldari t1 ships into CMPs and have the hitboxes done before i start implementing them ingame to test them, their hardpoints etc. then ofcourse, i will also have to export the weapon turret designs as well, which isnt hard, but will take a bit of time to do:P
im going to be optimistic and hopeful and give a rough guesstimate that i might be able to start testing the ships within the next month or two. if that is successful, i will then work on the Minmatar ships, followed by Amarr and finally Gallente (Gallente are last, because manual converting has shown me a slight issue with converting gallente ship textures. its only a short problem which i will cover sooner than later hopefully).

Lonestarr. he is/was, i dont really know what he's doing, considering he hasnt responded to any of my messages.
i was originally going to work with him, but due to the lack of responses/co-ordination, i decided ill start on the mod myself. that way, i dont have to work to any deadline etc. (for now anyway) and can do things my way.
@ chris: nah, ive already asked CCP permission to use their IP, they agreed to me using it as long as i dont claim full ownership of their stuff or try to sell it obv. infact, you can pretty much say they "blessed" me with creating the mod.:P
and yes, the thorax will be added, a bit later than sooner because gallente ship textures are proving to be a bit of an obstacle and will require extra time and attention paid to them.
