Prowler = GMG.
Do you think the LPI would openly advertise that they sell slaves to the GMG?
According to our modern values, what would we call Penal Transportation as a punishment for criminals in Liberty?
Selling some off to the GMG could be labelled an outsourcing of what are essentially private prison contracts. For Liberty it would enable them to banish some criminals, or send some away for their own protection.
Prisoners can be taken back from Okinawa, but the price is only average there. Passengers would be a good commodity add on Planet Miura come 4.86 - there is a good price comparison at Luxury Liner Hawaii nearby.
The other way the GMG comes across slaves is from those that are 'liberated' in the Sigmas. There is no such thing as a free lunch in the GMG, so until people can be processed and repatriated they work for their oxygen, food and shelter - same as everyone else.
Come 4.86, expect to see Miura a bustling, chaotic mining planet. This means all manner of deals, including plenty of shady ones involving indentured labour. Unlike lifetime slavery the Outcasts offer, people on prison contracts eventually serve their time.
They are then free to return, or start a new life.
I wouldnt expect them to advertise it, but if it was legal, I would expect it to be stated in liberties laws, so that LN dont shoot up the slave convoys. Seeing as its not that must mean that either LPI is doing it against lib government - corrupt. Or some officers are doing it against LPI regulations - corrupt. Or I guess its a secret government conspiracy - Everyone's corrupt!

It would be this, but as Zapp said, everyone on the station would have to be corrupt. And that isn't possible since we don't tolerate corrupt officers anymore.
[10:10:28 AM] Josh (Dejavu): Bauer is legendary to the LPI, I joined because I wanted to be that epic.
Then a deal needs to be hammered out - it would be interesting to hear a debate in Liberty about the use and general condition of Prison Labour in Liberty.
Maybe this could stimulate some activity? Who would be for or against the transportation of Liberty convicts?

This would actually make it all make sense if LPI makes a proper slave contract, because:
Now there is an actual reason LPI is selling slaves on that base - everyone seems to agree its unrealistic the entire station crew is corrupt. + It's easily exposed.
Now there is a reason you can buy several 5k loads of slaves from a 6k inhabited station - the 6k are the prisoners, the slaves you buy are the guys shipped up from the planet, as its easier for trains to moor on stations. (apparently)
So if the lib gov accepts it, this would make a nonsensical situation, well, sensible, so I think LPI should get on it chop chop.

Quote:The Rogues are a product of over two centuries of systematic lower-class cleansing that occurred on the Liberty planets of Manhattan, Denver, and Los Angeles. Relocated to the Texas prison system, many of them end up planetside on Houston upon release. Some stayed straight and joined the population scratching out a living. The rest returned to their life of crime, often ending up vaporized by a pursuing Liberty police patrol or back in prison for longer stretches, manning the prison factories that are the economic lifeblood of the Texas system.
Some say the massive LPI roundups of even minor offenders in Liberty have more to do with staffing these plants cheaply than reducing crime. Fresh out of the incubator of the Texas prison system, they have limited choices. Either they work in the factories of Houston for a pittance, join the Bounty Hunters and hunt down their former brethren, go radical and hook up with the Xenos, or rejoin their former partners in crime. The latter path is the obvious one for most. Simply put, these are not-too-quick opportunists, people willing to do whatever it takes to make a buck and get by until tomorrow. Usually they end up taking the fall for anything illegal that occurs in Liberty, whether they were involved or not.
The officers arnt corrupt; the system is.
Its a shame to fight against having one of the only distinguishing features when it comes to Sirius wide police forces.
Everyone seems to want their faction to be the pinnacle of perfection. These days, its the enlightened few who have got past that urge to cleanse their faction into a Knights Templar that make this game have flavor.
I would like to appeal to the LPI present in this thread to take a good long look at how awesome it is to be unique, corrupt, and shady as opposed to a cardboard cutout of your everyday friendly neighborhood police.
(That being said, ye, its dumb to sell slaves on a prison station with the population of 6000. They should be sold on Houston)
Please note that Echo is pretty much right. There is no advertisement of this and yes even with GMG ID you gotta do some fancy talking, this is an RP server afterall. I've enjoyed some epic encounters not only with Liberty lawfuls stopping my ship of slaves but even Liberty unlawfuls who came to rob me and found the interesting cargo. It's been like this for a couple years now. I do believe this discussion came up in the early days of .85. As I said, I wasn't too keen on the use of Slaves commodity but Xoria only had that to work with, I've predicted then that this was something that will need to be rediscussed repeatedly as Liberty Police changeover rate continues. I would implore that current Liberty Police take Lobster's suggestion seriously. The corruption of Liberty's Police into a corporate entity is a unique feature of that house police compared to the other house police. Please don't stamp out that character. Ultimately it's your decision but it's a detail you can play around with that the other house police don't have. And yeah, Houston may have been a better location for PoWs. I'm certain between LPI boosted by local BHG can keep concentration camps ready till pick up.
