I hope none of the people playing F2P games are the ones saying NONONO.

I've played a few of them in my time and, if it's done right, it's absolutely fine. You can earn the same things with time input as with money input, and it is quite frankly, a business model that is proven to work.

The main problem here is that it would no longer become a "donation" to the server, but more of a trade. I mean, if disco isn't going through cash troubles, then I can understand the flat NO's, but there's a financial reality that must be faced sooner or later.

Plus, I do think a lot of people would be butthurt by this. A fair few play FL because they can't afford a computer that plays something better, so of course any form of paying for an advantage they will be against... even if it's an advantage that they can gain themselves through other means.

It's not possible to win with any current product. If it was to get things that others can't that provide an edge, admin cannons being an extreme example, then it's a serious problem. When it's just the same old things we all can get all the cash does is exempt the fella from having to do the grind. My personal objection to this is that the foundation Disco's chain of activity is based on people doing the grind. Beyond that, bitching about someone being able to use $20 to purchase a BS that we all can get for free is hollow.

This.
While I, myself, farmed enough, I bet there're people out there who just can't spend on freelancer more then 2 evenings at weekend due to job/family whatever, or don't want to and they're destined to stay on their Mammoth for like few months. So might work, actually. Or might not. Prices just have to be balanced. (so you don't buy for 10$ something you'll need to grind for 20-30 hours).

My 2 cents.

Just, because someone doesn't want to trade for 10 hours to earn 500 million credits and rather pays 10 euros for it, isn't an "omg ingame advantage".

Personally I would never pay for ingame money in Freelancer, but I'm sure a few people out there would. Also, let's face it. The server isn't for free. Giving a little something to those evil donators seems okay, considering the fact, that they are paying for the server on you guys happen to play as well -for free-.

I genuinely agreeing with "Where did it run" on this one.

When I read about "pay to win", "ingame advantage" I though of battleships with stronger powercores and such.
This gives you just credits, nothing more.
People who actually have time to play more could consider themselves lucky.

Also what people who are unwilling to pay don't understand is that if done right they would also benefit from increased funding of the community and wouldn't sacrifice much if anything at all.

I agree with "Where did it run" as well.

As long as the perks aren't those "special" items that are unavailable to the general public, it should be fine.

I can earn credits. I can buy Codenames. I don't have to pay RL money for it.
If someone wishes to do so, it's their choice and the server's benefits.

As long as it isn't something like "Defilers" and "Exclusive ships/equipment", it should be fine. Plus, it actually provides more cash so we can improve our severs.

The only downside would be more battleships lolwutting around Sirius.
However, I assume that only people on the forums would have access to this perks. And, generally speaking, the people on the forums tend to NOT be lolwuts.

Totally agreed.

And, maybe, I am not right...but Wouldn`t it cause problems with Windows?
Like gaining money with their product?

FL MOD(EL)MAKING: TOOLS, RESOURCES, TUTORIALS AND MY SHIPS (OLD)

I am on discord: Roal-Yr#5994, I don't log on forum more than a few times a year.

I am not making ships for FL anymore, I am making my own space game instead:

There are two issues, first, because of the code of FL, a new server doesnt help us, we would still not be able to go past 200 players and performence would not become significantly better. So there is really not all that much need.

Second, giving people a way out of trading by paying real money does not help, and in fact hurts the game. Traders are really the life blood of the game, traders trade which brings pirates, which brings police, which results in, you know, activity. Less traders directly equals less activity.

I dont really see the need for this, and we do not run this server for a profit, so thats really not much of an argument.

Basically, we dont need it, and it will be detrimental to gameplay in this case, plus of course, we already have many people who donate to the server without any need for some kind of special perk for it.
