Thanks for giving it thought & taking the time to understand my point. That's all I really want from anyone on this score. It's just a big sore spot for me when hate symbols are cherry picked solely on their level of infamy. To me, it boils down to either allow all, or allow none.
Peace Dude:cool:
::edit @ Gheis: you're right & I made unfair sport when I knew full well this wasn't the place for it...I set a bad example for others & have no excuse. I apologize to the OP for letting myself get all slappy in the thread::
Righto, pieces have been said. Leave 'em there. If you're not a part of fulfilling the OP's request, or don't have something constructive to add, spin around in your chair a few times and try again later. I've cleaned up things I dont' think work well enough in the topic.
For clarity, Marburg and BV, insulting each other doesn't constitute constructive posting.
I just wanted to add that there's not much difference in using the south flag and using the war flag of the communist regime which btw enslaved millions of people in their working camps....
The sirius coalition is using this communist symbol so i don't see your piont...

The hammer & sickle has never struck me as a racist symbol, but in a pinch, I'd say that if it promotes hate in lieu of nostalgia in that part of the world, then it has to go in order to remain fair...but the fact of the matter is, I've never been there & I'm flat-out ignorant of russian race relations.
That's actually why it gets frustrating when the issue pops up. On occasion when someone slaps up a swastika, people go nuts about it. It's so commonly reviled, that those that don't denounce it can get railed on just as hard as the guy that slapped it up in the first place. The confederate flag just doesn't generate that level of popular reflex animosity from people all over the world, so it's not as easy to clarify to outsiders how much overt & seething hatred the thing generates from both sides.
All I'm saying is that to allow one while disallowing another just ain't right imho...it simply needs to be all or nothin'
I know it's purely an aesthetic choice on your part & not a racist one, but when a person flies a hate symbol here, it sets the whole place in a bad light, unintentional as it may be. I can't tell you not to fly it, so all I want is for you to think about the reasons why I'm here asking you not to.
I understand what you mean and i'm thankful that you told me your opinion.
When i made this proposal i did not think of it as a hate symbol (like swastika),
I thought that because it was used in many games and films like StarCraft that people would not nescessary connect it to slavery or south racism.
I'll think about it some more time.
