I'm probably going to get a lot of people calling me a fool but this seems a little brazen for what I can expect of Nomads themselves. The principal behind this is good, its definately food for thought but this screams of what The Wild/Das Wilde should be doing rather than straight up Nomads. The fear factor of a nomad vessel will be diminished by repeat appearances whether your targets die or not but with The Wild thats never an issue. The Wild can operate any ship within reason, appear under any guise and you never know till its too late (assuming they are covert about it). The fear should be the fear of not knowing, not being sure whereas even with Nomads you can be very sure from 14K and you will, as was said before, get those times when people metagame the hell out of you for your alien sounding names.
Thats just how I feel. I still wish you all the best, it just seems like The Wild's sort of thing to me, thats all.
On another vein of the same topic I'd be interested to see if this proves a point I've been thinking over in my head. Are there simply enough naval or police forces to cover the house systems, which canonically should be the case? An increase in naval activity would prove this where as not much change would show that there is some sort of issue. many would say this is not a problem but means that traders must work harder in their organised groups. I would say that there is only so much you can do in house space. I say this because one of my group's traders was killed by Nomads in capital type vessels (my comrade assumed they were cruisers) within house space, something that trader/neutral factions can do nothing about if there are no naval forces on. We rely on the fact that they will grant up permission to counter such capital ships with our own or some large number of bombers or alternatively that they will bring their own but what if they simply do not? No one likes to engage in fights that they simply cannot win and it is seen as unfair play to knowingly engage someone that cannot possibly defeat you as a result of either far superior numbers or ship types (piracy being differant as a result of usually having an ultimatum rather than diving straight into combat).
Just makes me wonder. Either way, I hope your experiment does make people think collectively on a more frequent basis. Such cooperation can only lead to good things.
Roleplaying a nomad in Sirius, cant be fixed. It cant be the same, since nomads arent humans, and as far as I know, they dont have current behaviour. They are a threat and they are "here to bring danger and pain". Your idea is fine, since its just a view, how can somebody roleplay a nomad.
I need to agree with you, about the motivation, since it could make this game spicy. I've met with phooms and always was a "joy". We arent here to write long stories or to gain more and more virtual credits. We are here to enjoy the game, and since all of us has different life, all of us need different impulses to enjoy our time here.
Roleplaying a nomad as a "killing machine" isnt a bad idea for people who could enjoy it. You found your taste and your taste will find partners to enjoy with.
Its nice and dont need nothing more to speak here.
I hope we'll meet, since I'm that kind of person who could enjoy a blood-thirsty nomad while using a zoner whale.
There is the ever so small division of the nomads, the Nomad Rebellion. A bit more friendly, and wont go looking for people to kill.. but if you still annoy them, its still a pretty big chance your going to die. Just a little different circumstances and Roleplay with them.
