No idea about elsewhere, but some of the premade carports you get in Australia are cyclone-proof rated, so I have no idea what Saronsen is on about.
Bird poop is acidic and direct sunlight affects paint, plastics and rubbers, so that would be the advantage. I would just build a tin shed if I was going that far though, to protect it from dirt and rain too. Your call.

Wood is cheaper and sturdier.
And puts hair on your chest.
I imagine Sterlin is the kind of guy who doesn't have any body hair at all. Disgraceful.
Now go forth, Sterlin, and make yourself a garage out of the best Oak money can buy. Or if you don't want a nearly indestructible garage, pine and plywood will work too.

Had one here in Florida take off in the last big thunderstorm and land in our back yard. Though to be fair, it was put together by the rednecks that have like 16 hunting dogs next door.
'Murrica.

Compared to you? You bet. I've probably accumulated 1200 hours or so in the last.. 7 or 8 years. It's slowly downgraded from big projects using power saws and routers to making little shelves and book cases with a hand saw and lots of nails.
Still fun though.
or just use a tarp; drap fresh tarp over car, make folds to fit tarp snugly around body work. cut along folds. remove extra panels, tape along joins. Then use a sewing machine on zig-zag setting and sew along tape. At the corners, take some of the excess material and using your zig-zag setting, re-inforce the corners. Fit PLASTIC grommets at the edges, and affix bungee cord to them, so the tarp is kept taut and less likely to flap and tear/fly away. store in trunk of car - can cover your baby 100% of the time.

You have a tree right?
Attach the cover to the tree via a rope. Run the rope through a pulley, so you can raise it easily when you want to use your car; secure the rope so it doesn't drop down again.
When you get come you can simply untie the the rope and the cover will drop down over your car.
