I personally like the rouge navy idea however you might want to consult the admins on weather or not it would be allowed. Passing the idea to them along with your rp and your ideas about IDs and let them decide.
Hard core RP solution
Keep the LN ID, put in your cargo teamcrews, H-fuel, food rations, etc..
Connect and try to survive. Sooner or later you will have to quit liberty space or be destroyed, and when I say destroyed, I say it is over when your battleship is destroyed. Perhaps you, as officer can survive and fly something else after that. As I use to say, the ship by itself is nothing, what matter is the pilot.
Find in game, a way to refuel, to keep your team crew alive. If you managed to find in game allies without being destroyed, you will continue to play. You want to RP a rebellion, just RP the rebellion. However, would be good to keep a reasonable ratio of capital ships/fighters if you are rallying ex-LN.
Small question : is the 522nd a "major event" planed between you and the rest of the player character sof the LN ? Because in such a case, I see absolutely no problem. Just do what you have to do.
But in such case, at least put in an "official news" easy to find, easy to read, so everyone can understand.
And to explain deeply what hard core RP and official mean in my head, the link to a sub-forum proposal
Quote:Official Events is something that happen or will happen on the server and can change static data that everyone should know.
For the Royal Edict that I consider a real RP of course - but it is me maybe not all players on the server - there could be consequences : Carina is the Queen (static data), the BAF could separate into two factions, a civil war could start = lawful BAF can shoot at lawful BAF (not really within the server rules). BUT, as it is an official event, supervised by Admin/moderator all is good, and ALL players characters can participate, have an opinion, jump into the major Event.

"Perfection, honesty, devotion" "Immortality is our subconscious main concern" "To change the system, you have to be inside the system and play by the rules"
The 522nd isn't even in Liberty anymore. We left over a week ago. We also have the resources to maintain a fleet:dry:

The average operating cost of a US Navy Nimitz class carrier is estimated to be 160 millions, annually. Realistically speaking, I believe
1. The actual carrier, or even the Atlantis carrier, is a few times larger than the Nimitz
2. As such, its annual operating cost would be multiplied by... a lot.
So, a battlegroup by itself has no mean of income. But it can apparently keep a carrier operating?
The 522nd as such only has one mean of survival, that is, it is the only one that might be able to keep the carrier operational;
Join up with a large faction with enough means to operate such large vessels. I seriously doubt the KGL has the mean (I'm not familiar yet with the rp, so I wont comment too much on it).
You might join up with either outcasts or corsairs, both large organisation that can effectively operate such vessels. But I doubt its a very good decision.
Junkers? They'd probably prefer to scrap such a ship and sell the components before being accused of stealing naval property to keep neutral.
Any other organisation seems a "no". It all has to do with cost efficiency at some point. To function you need the help from a large organisation. That large organisation wants to get something in return however.
1)
As already said, there is really no existing ID for this.
2)
If you rp a different ID but violate the conditions of it by flying ships and having alliances/conduct out of line with its RP, other players will object.
3)
I think its not correct to say "you could never..." support a battlegroup but you will have to have a firm rationale for it. No faction--especially the Junkers--will support you indefinitely for nothing in return. You will need a support fleet. Maybe a lifter, miner, tanker, freighter and repair ship minimum--as well as a base that fleet can call "home" with allies and resources. As to the Harvesters, its a possibility but its pushing it. Why would Harvesters pour resources into your fleet? I'd say they would just want to Harvest it themselves.
There is a single suggestion I can see, apply for a terrorist ID, become hostile to Liberty Navy, their allies and all their military/police forces and then confine your terrorism against them.
It would have to be a admin approved thing.
The only other ally you might find is "the Order" as they do not get along with Liberty or Bounty Hunters.
I personally think it's great to have a rogue fleet opposed to its sister on "constitutional grounds". The Bounty Hunter "alliance" is a good reason due to the ridiculous firepower of the BH fleets (look at DW for example--almost all battleships and battle cruisers).
And it's not fun having everybody use "Junker" as their "do anything tag"--then we have to interact at Junker bases with them and it really forces our own rp.
We will not use Junker tag or ID. We are not allied with junkers per se...
@ Xing, we have, in fact, joined forces with a significant faction with the resources required.

Yeah--no problem with anybody in particular's intent. Just when everyone says, "Oh, we'll us the Junker ID" it gets a bit polluted after awhile for real Junkers.

Actually the majority of our fleet is small craft. We are seen most often in the larger craft due to the Harvesters being in Omega-15. I see no reason to send fighters after Talarca cruisers.
As far as the 522nd ID, why not Merc since they have hired themselves out as protectors of the Harvesters?
We can't use the Merc ID, as we have several ships larger than gunboats.
Also, as to the DW, we've seen no less than five separate ships of above gunboat size in o-15. All of which either fled or died.
