A look back at the Junker and Hogosha IDs.

Time for my two cents

So lets lay out the factor here:


Lawfuls and shoot Quasis

We have a Insanely efficient Mercenarry Company Now ( Not a Complaint a Compliment)

and Quasis cannot do anything really illegal except smuggle.



Here is my logic here:

a Trader (Interspace for example) is trading in California.
Interspace gets pirated by a Junker the trader reports in his Trade Log (MD) that I was pirated by a Junker. The head of IC gets annoyed since this is the 5th time with the same Junker this week. Well instead of Jumping to FR5 we have many pretty Bounty Hunter Factions in Sirius now without much to do. IC Drops a line to a Merc group with say 75 million credits dangling from it the mercs take it and hunt the Junker and now the Junker is so caught up in watching his back he cannot do much of anything else very well.

what if the current no-pirate ID was renamed congress npc faction ID, and we had a new junker ID that resembles the old one? and congress and junkers would be deeply allied, but like variations of junkers

This i think would be a good idea. that way the congress could take their RP in a direction they want, and indie junkers can pirate and do what they do.

That way, the RP consequences of bad deeds fall on the individual characters/ships rather than on junkers as a whole.

Not really. The largest issue here is the fact that the law IDs have that line that say they can shoot all quasi on sight, In other words Junkers are done, piracy or no piracy , as their rp is forfeit since they can not do it without the protection that the quasi quality provided before.

So no more smuggling, you will be shot on sight, no more shady business, you will be shot on sight, no more rp because...you will be shot on sight.

This just kills Hogosha and Junker rp completly , might as well throw those said Ids out of the window and delete them as they can not be quasi anymore and , in the case of junkers, they don't have the tools to be outlaws.

Besides, whats the fun of an allover cops and robbers bland, black and white boring game?

Aren't Zoners also considered quasi-legal by some Houses? Would this not affect them as well?

indeed you are correct. a fair few members of this community seem to want to turn every faction into either a corporation, lawful authorities or generic unlawful groups.

i would have thought the point of having quasi-lawfuls was to have groups that have a foot on both sides of the law. not have lawfuls or unlawfuls masquerading as quasi-lawfuls.

i think so, and it would mean houses would have a means to persecute all zoners.

I think it is an interesting idea with the cargo theft and the money theft for the Junkers and Hogosha respectively. They are shady guys I suppose, but why limit RP that they have been known for by the rules? As long as people do not cry, play screencap lancer, and run instantly to FR5 people, use your brains and hire some bounty hunters or something instead. But hey, whatever, do both. Just do not get caught....but oh well everyone will get caught because no one is ever going to stop someone from pressing print screen every 2 seconds. Then they will just run off to rename. Junkers Congress sure as heck is not going to pirate in House space anyways, so that only leaves indies.

well, with the updated IDs in play now, i'd say its a sensible time to complain.

You dont know QQ until junkers QQ about getting killed all the time. They dont have the ships for it, and guys who just want to mine scrap are going to be surprised in a bad kind of way.

ps--I do not believe the house lawful ID should be changed for this either. My suggestion would be to give BHG the ability to hunt junkers outside of house space without needing a bounty. Since junkers can only be unlawful outside of house space, this gives them a sirius-wide opposition force that would be similarly restricted. Either that or give them some other global enemy, like IMG (but Jack has said he doesnt want that).

The house lawful ID could be changed to "other parties commiting unlawful acts" and that would cover most of the necessary situations

I have had enough of the idiot type of players that love these IDs.
They are the reason why Hogosha, GJ, Junkers cannot have nice IDs.
Thank them.

Then remove the lawfuls' ability to shoot quasi lawfuls on sight. This way, they will abuse this allowance to hell on quasi-lawful, the same way the quasi-lawfuls abused the piracy allowance back then. It is the very same thing, but from the other side.

This seems to be a good way, too.
