You played 4.80 for several years? WHat the hell.... 4.87 now

What have you been doing all the 4.81, 82, 83 , 84 , 85 , 86 ?

Omg, 4.80 all your life, this sure is weird. Also if you try a different mod, it's usual that you always start from scratch dude, get over it, that's with all games. You can't simply tell the Developers that you want all the time you wasted to be transferred into their mod version / game and waste more time with it. That just doesn't work like that.

If its merely a patch or update, it should not affect game saves and stuff...

I recently updated GTA V and there was no problems afterwards...
I got the atest patches (although still old) for C&C Renegade and it didnt affect the save files...
I installed LoD onto my Diablo II and none of the save files were affected...

So, why are game files affected in updates to Freelancer Discovery...? Its still the same mod, its just an updated version...so everything should stay the SAME...

there's been so many changes that's happened with the mod for the better part of an entire decade now, that the only way you can maintain anything from .80 is to simply stay with .80

If you really want to upgrade your experience to .87, you will simply have to adapt & let go of .80

You can compartmentalize both versions & play them separately, but You can't have your cake & eat it too

Compartmentalize? How?
I tried downloading Ver 4.87 but it failed to complete the download.

Like this:

You can play .87 and you can play .80 separately as 2 independent installs, but if you try to specifically update your .80 install to .87, you are going to get nothing but a massive migraine when it doesn't work out the way you seem to want it to.

That sounds like a good idea...
However, attempts to download the 4.87 thing has resulted in failure.
Where else could I try getting it from?

Because everyone I've asked have told me that when they create new characters in the game ONLINE in the RP server...they get banned for hacking/cheating. JUST for making a new character.

This was a bug that occured during the initial release of v4.87. That bug has since been resolved. (The latest version is v48.70.0.7a, aka v4.87 - patch 7a, which has quite a few more features and many fixes not present in the initial v4.87 release).

Their "single hit takes down your shield" weapon REALLY annoys me.
Especially since I am using the BEST stuff I can find.

My ship Is an Order Mephthys with Advanced Brigandine Shield and Armour Upgrade II.
I am using 2 Dark Blossom, 2 Diamondback and 2 Guardian Guns, with the Chain Gun Wldfire Turret.

Am I an even match for a Nomad...and if not, why?

From what I remember of that mod version, either you're not flying intelligently, or you need more raw power. Packs of Nomad NPCs were never easy to defeat, even when flying fighters with the best equipment. Bring support in the form of Gunboats or Capital Ships.

There was a sig here, once.

Hmm, interesting idea...
I just wish NPC factions would help. There always seems to be a Battleship Patrol, or a shedload of Fighters at the WRONG time to help me...

However, sometimes I manage to lure the Nomads into their fire.
I only ask because of the fact that I have to get to Omicron Minor and back with my friend, so we can buy better stuff for our ships.
This, of course, means going through places infested withNomads.

I also want to go see what those Nomad Fighters are like on planets Gammu and Primus... Unless someone already knows if they're good?

Whats this Lost Batttlestar anyway? I've never found it, itsa apparently an old Nomad ship and you can apparently DOCK on it and buy stuff?

The Lost Battlestar was an admin station in earlier versions that has been modified recently to become the Temple of the Damned. You can buy various pieces of rare equipment and all IDs there as well as special ships that you can not normally obtain without them being given to you by an admin.

You can however not dock on it as a normal player. It belongs to the admin faction that is hostile to everyone except for those with an admin ID. The only way you can dock on it with other factions is if you would use console commands.
