People should be able to roleplay all kinds of weird stuff even when it may be of bad quality. The cool thing about Discovery is that it manages to be quite a hardcore RP community yet at the same time is laidback.

Roleplaying is not a competition, it's about having fun together and letting our imagination run wild to create wonderful fictional adventures. Some stuff may be absurd or bad, but that's the result of the incredible freedom this RP environment gives us which is also the source of the good things. You can create new factions, you can roleplay leader figures and you can roleplay a rich character even if your bank is almost empty. And sometimes really absurd ideas become pretty neat, things improve. I saw CR was already mentioned and I can tell you they are not the only case. I once delved into the most ancient posts of the Hellfire Legion and it involved supersoldiers from earth (and I think everyone at that time still had fun despite how terrible it may seem in hindsight).

Same goes for individual characters, I used to do stuff that now would be frowned upon, but I think it was fun. Like as a lawful in-game deciding to go rogue as the result of RP that happened at that time. Maybe a lot of my RP then was cliché and whatever and now (and probably then too) there are all kinds of rules that forbid such things. But if RP just goes as it goes and everyone involved is ok with it, I think people should just have fun and not play sanctionlancer or whatever.

And if you encounter something that breaks your immersion, just try and deal with it as your character would and perhaps you can soon divert your attention to something you like better again. The only exception of course is powergaming and meta-gaming and I think they also cover the most problematic excesses I think.

... this post became a lot longer than I anticipated.
tl;dr: Just try and have fun, RP is not a competition.

This was one of the things I was referencing.

I have to agree that this story doesn't make logical sense to me and It's not something that I would personally want to do nor would I enjoy interacting with it but ultimately that's kind of all irrelevant. It's a weird story yes, but it doesn't affect me and if the people running that are enjoying themselves then I don't really see the harm. Personally, I think the overly crude sexual references and people dead set on playing underage girls are more an issue.
