This is absolute horseshit. Just another wall to make players success harder and longer. 6 months to reach official status is too much for the benefit that official status provides.
If your faction is truely dedicated then 6 months shouldn't be an issue. What IS an issue is a faction's first post being an officialdom request. The current attitude on Disco seems to be that if you're not official then you shouldn't exist, which is stupid. Being unofficial for a few months shouldn't kill you, and if it does, then you wouldn't have made it as an official faction either.
"But unofficial factions don't have any power"
If you have enough clout as an unofficial faction it doesn't matter glances at gmg
And what is an issue if newly created faction wants to submit request for official status earlier? If they are motivated and dedicated, why would Disco be so harsh and strict and tell "You have to be enslaved to this game longer to gain official status".
Once again, this is absolute nonsense that is just another wall to make it harder for players to pursue their goals.
the intent behind this change is understandable. the timing, however, and the climate of disco at the moment only makes this decision look stupid.
3 or 4 years ago (or more), this decision would have been eminently sensible. Now, it's just putting another nail in. Makes me wonder if this decision was put in to curtail the already seemingly limited input OFs can actually have on the storyline these days
I Joined OS&C| a cuple of days ago and we are a forum but not an official Faction as i heared from our Leader he is working on that but we are an good faction i had right after my join so many offers of help an depite my Accent in writing english i was acepted with kindnes and friendly behavior and whats the thing aginst players without official faction id i play now a month or so and everywere i was nobody have had a problem with me not becouse i had no official player faction id a budy of mine likes the role play from time to time and had liked to join the wild but he dont want that forum thing he avoid the forum if posible so he will never fill a recruitment paper and thats ok as long as he plays by the server rules
How will staff decide if faction fits "3 months before request" if it is a revival of previous faction that has long lost official status. Or wasn't even official to begin with but has undefined timeframe since any substantial activity.

Either lower the time or increase the benefits.
This change makes no sense. What makes a faction "be around"? Let's say I want to make a faction. I make a forum post that has the faction concept in it, make one ship that has the tag in its name and let it sit untouched for 3 months. Technically, the faction "has been around" for 3 months now, allowing me to apply for officialdom.
I see why the request cooldown is there, but the initial wait time to apply for officialdom needs to be removed again. 500 Million Credits is enough of a barrier to discourage trolls and generally low-quality factions from applying. In addition, the wait time until the faction finally gains officialdom is long enough.
As others have pointed out before, the times of 128/128 players are gone. The demograph of players interested in Freelancer/Discovery becomes older and more busy with life. Artificial """motivations""" to play make the game feel like work and do the exact opposite of what you think it does. It makes players lose all interest in playing.
