' Wrote:I luves my Interspace. Unfortunately, the IND stole all of our privileges for their ID, so it's not nearly as shady as it used to be, and my liner has been nerfed into the ground.
No they didn't. Imagination plox.
Something I've mulled over a fair amount, I'll drop my two cents here.
1) Additional guard systems is a terrible idea. Aside from adding to the sprawl of disco in the form of a number of random systems which contribute little beyond being teh oorps through which to transit they're often being employed to massively upswing the holding faction's perceived power. I dun like 'em. But I'm just me.
2) Corporate Bases: I can't help but feel that in many ways they're over rated. I do feel that there is room enough for every NPC commercial faction to have a single base. A drydock of some kind. However the notion that more bases infers greater commercial might is largely determined by the the fact that the entirety of our FL experience takes place in space, we rarely take into account the notion of sprawling shipyards and warehouse loading centers the size of metropolis' outfitting fleets of Bowex transports on Leeds.
But then I also feel that, in many ways, FL space is very dominated by countless bases as it is.
I feel that a good step forward would be in the form of addressing certain faction specific commodities, such as pharms and the potential addition of a synthfoods good. When the mining update is completed in 2039 there will be additional options for production centered factions, while shipping concerns are already rather well off in each of the respective houses.
' Wrote:better take the synth food station from Stuttgart to Cambridge. Cambridge is the main food export from Bretonia. And Liberty is in war with Rheinland. So no Synth food there.
Bretonia - learn from Rheinland - never let producing the Synth Food in Bretonia, check the rumors.
I completely agree. I'd also like to point out that Interspace is an insurance company, as opposed to a shipping company.
The thing is, the sense of proportion is a bit out of whack, as is the time scale.
For instance, in Disco, Xenos are presented as weak. In vanilla, they are one of the biggest unlawful factions, rivalling the Rogues in size and growing faster. In the other Houses, the only non-Hispanic unlawful faction that can really rival them size-wise is the Red Hessians and maybe Junkers. The fact that Disco is 20 years after vanilla, combined with Xeno recruitment should indicate that the Xenos should have grown much more powerful.
Also, as Malaclypse brought up (extremely big kudos for wanting to keep Zoners the way they should be), developments of things that were 'works in progress' during vanilla have not progressed. Harris hasn't progressed, nothing changed on Sprague, the gate site in Tau 23 should have been finished years ago, the fields mined in Dresden could have dried up by now...
I would like to see corps ships being more suitable to them. I mean, DHC needs better armours to get to some stations they have with lots of radiation, Kruger needs better mining vessels, ALG at least a station or depot outside Rheinland. No just the trading balance is better, but with new ships, not just civilian fighters or the house trains, maybe they would get more love and hate. Zoners should only be on Freeports, maybe a planet, not getting all the love for them selfs. IMG got that HUGE shipyard on the omegas for what? what was the point of that? I mean, give better stuff to corps and you will see.
' Wrote:Where are there "vanilla" opportunities for love? Planet Harris needs to be completed and doled out.
Well, its close to be finished off. but then again Planetform has one thing less.
would only be Cold Bay at Planet Atka, Perth at Planet Ayr, Planet Minor and Canterburry left. Maybe still a base at Harris then, but its already too dangerous to go in there.
As Commodoties we have Wildlife and Alien Organisms. The Organisms...I dont know really where i can get them cheap of a Planetform base...maybe because there is non? I only remember a Freeport having them cheap. and that was in some omega or omicron, dont remember. Well we have terraforming gasses, but well. As Roleplay Commodoty they are not really profitable. and i think only useful on perth and harris. and only cheap to buy at Canterburry iirc....the Planetform HQ......wait? An HQ producing gasses?
Well, if i list the exports
Minor: Nothing.
Cold Bay: Well, nothing
Canterbury: Terraforming Gasses (which is totally unrealistic that an HQ is producing something like that)
Harris: Not really exports
Perth: Wildlife (The only really useful thing)
I earn in 1,5 hours of one Route (Which is the only one we can make) 22 Million in my Shire. I am not complaining that i earn too less or get pirated so many times and sometimes even only made the half amount of Profit. I am complaining about that we dont have any other Route we can do inRP. Only Canterbury -> Harris/Perth and Perth -> Cold Bay are fine. And that is everything.
Now i see Factions getting stuck their new toys up their butts, getting new ships or even shiplines and others don get a thing. There is many stuff what could be made for other Factions. I barely see Planetformers. To be honest, i never saw one without an PFI| Tag. Well i saw one, in a Kusari Whale...When i see transported Wildlife than only by me or someone smuggling it into Kusari. We are already failing at becoming official due to no trade routes (except the one we have).
"Who is it doing this synthetic type of alpha beta psychedelic funkin'?"
"Babeh dun hurt meh , dun hurt meh , no moar. Wot iz luv ?"
But , yea I agree. Coorporations lack some luv. Synth Foods doesnt even have their own base! What we need is a ship for every coorporation , one that reflects their "style". Not to mention some bases for certain ones.
I agree that corporate bases aren't really that necessary, or guard systems. The only thing guard systems have that corps need is places to dole out supernovas and UAU VIIIs and the like. No real reason why we need to hide those things, is there?
Like Cryer for example, only has the two bases. But you know, they also own a huge chunk of Denver and that is where most of their business actually takes place. CRS and Atka only have a couple of hundred people on them. I mean, I wouldn't hate some awesome station orbiting Denver, but really it's not necessary.
But for some corporations, it makes sense. Daumann, Kruger, BMM for example. And yeah, expansion of stuff like Sprague. But please call it Sprague. Sydney is a horrible name. In vanilla lore, it's the corporations who do a house's major expansion, followed later by police and navy. Look at the borderworlds - the vanilla Omegas, Taus and especially Sigmas are littered with corporate bases, whereas the disco equivalent tends to be a freeport or some other weird base that makes no sense. (hello Invergordon! Where's the junk at?)
What I would also like is stuff like commodity boosts (corp commodities that suck like pharms, terraforming gases, fertilisers, all that), maybe trading bonuses akin to mining bonuses for stuff that makes sense for various corps.
And yeah, rather than adding more systems, I'd like to see what we have get more developed. Mostly by gates and lanes. But a few planets could go for docking rings, a couple of bases could be abandoned and a couple more expanded (like the move from Dresden to Omega 7 that Daumann and Kruger are probably really supposed to have already done by now), maybe some movement by corporations in to 'pirate' systems, like the deeper Omegas and Omicrons, stuff like that. I don't want bases thrown in that make no sense just for the sake of having them, but some nice base for a company, that makes sense to be where it is, has some nice interesting bar rumours, maybe a decent buy and/or sell point for something, and I'd be very happy. Newcastle, for example, while not the perfect system, did throw out some nice love to bretonian corps (or at least, with Belfast being BMM, it would have been neat). Ontario has that Ageira base, but I can't say I know why it's there or what it does, and Munich has that Daumann base that I've genuinely never even bothered flying out to. Okinawa has a couple of decent ones too, but on the whole it's been pretty thin on the ground so far.
Oh, and the IDs could do with a little more love with regards to escorts. I knew a few corp playerfactions are using Mercenary IDs for their escorts, and that shouldn't have to be the case. Merc IDs add: Ability to collect any bounties, unlimited PvP freedom, and gunboats. I think we can agree that we don't want corporations to have this kind of freedom, so giving the corporation IDs a bit more freedom would make this situation go away. I would suggest letting corps collect on lawful bounties and have freedom to engage pirates in basically anywhere. This way, we keep corporate escorts out of gunboats, but give them the freedom to do similar stuff to, for example, a lawful freelancer. As I've said before, corporate escorts are a really under-represented group. Maybe letting them collect on bounties would give them a bit more love.
As for 'basically' anywhere - perhaps could do with some check to keep them out of Gamma and stuff. 'Systems with a jumpgate' isn't that bad, but it doesn't take in to account stuff like the fact a lot of corps have to go out to Omega 49, or my Cryer boys going through Theta and such. I personally don't see the problem with giving them complete freedom to engage unlawfuls in all systems, because I mean, that's what freelancers get, and they can do it in gunboats, and then attack lawfuls right after.
