2100-2200 C.E. (or A.D. I just use C.E. because of my AP World History Class) - The Alliance-Coalition War. 2200 C.E./0 A.S. - Eight sleeper ships launch from one of Jupiter's moons. The other three sleeper ships were built by the French, Italian, and Australian armies. However, they were destroyed before they could escape. The Bretonia's starboard engine array was destroyed during the Exodus. Therefore, it had to travel much slower than the other ships and arrived much later than them.
1 A.S. - Liberty sleeper ship lands on Manhattan. It is rumored that the Liberty arrived first because it launched before the other sleeper ships.
3 A.S. - Rheinland sleeper ship lands on New Berlin.
5 A.S. - Kusari sleeper ship lands on New Tokyo.
19 A.S. (approximately) - Bretonia sleeper ship lands on New London. circa 20-50 A.S. - A Coalition saboteur on the Hispania completely destroys the Hispania's engines, waking the colonists. Half of them decide to use the escape pods to finish the journey to Sirius. They left the Hispania, landed on Planet Crete, and became the Corsairs. The other half took their chances with the wreck and kept it working while it drifted into Sirius. The Hispania couldn't land, so the remaining colonists used the remaining escape pods that hadn't been used by the Corsairs to land on Planet Malta. The wreck of of the Hispania still drifts in orbit around Planet Malta. These colonists became the Outcasts. The colonists from the Hispania believe that the saboteur was actually a member of one of the other sleeper ships that was trying to eliminate the competition, so the other sleeper ships would be able to settle in the more desirable places in Sirius, which is actually why the Corsairs and the Outcasts hate the other houses so much.
60 A.S. - Sigma-13 discovered.
65 Planet Kyushu settled, becomes primary rice producer.
100 The Yokohama shipyard begins producing Kusari Naval Forces ships, as it does to this day.
110 A.S. - Von Rohe explores Omega-11.
230 A.S. - Norfolk Shipyard constructed.
250 Catastrophic decline in ocean harvesting on Honshu, the second Kusari colony, causes settlers to search for alternative means of survival. They will eventually move off-planet to become the GMG.
300 Tau-29 discovered by a Kusari research expedition.
300 Shikoku-Tokyo Gate built.
300 Sigma-13 becomes GMG's primary gas production area.
312 A.S. - Freiburg Station constructed.
321 Samura-backed coup d'etat in Kusari overthrows the Hideyoshi dynasty. Fleeing loyal royal guards found the Blood Dragons
330 GMG signs exclusive agreement with Samura for distribution of H-Fuel. Aomori Station, already serving as an equipment depot for Honshu miners working the lucrative oceans of gas in the Crow Nebula, becomes primary point of contact between GMG and Samura.
350 Samura constructs, the Osaka Storage Facility.
350 Deshima Station constructed to house itinerant foreigners, influenced partially by the strict New Tokyo entry requirements.
376 A.S. - Jump gate to Omega-11 constructed.
400 In an effort to curb overpopulation problems in New Tokyo, Kusari government begins offering huge corporate incentives to relocate operations to Kyushu. Samura decides to invest.
450 A.S. - Harris terraforming initiated.
510 Kishiro selects now-fallow Honshu as the location for its main Optronics manufacturing facility.
521 After the Rheinland-Kusari Embargo; IC loses millions of credits as both Houses nationalize their Trade Lanes. The massive debts that those Houses incurred are wiped away, and the Trade Lanes become theirs. IC begins moving to cargo insurance.
543 A.S. - Great California Drought.
550 GMG's initial survey of Sigma-19. After intense negotiations, the GMG signs an agreement with Kishiro to finance a Jump Gate to the system in exchange for mining rights.
600 Fuchu Prison moved from New Tokyo to Shikoku.
600 A.S. - Collapse of Denver industries, building of Sugarland prison.
602 Shinkaku Station built to provide Samura access to the abundant ammonia, water, and oxygen ice fields present in the system.
603 A.S. - Nago Station constructed by Kishiro.
605 Beginning of the Eighty-Years War between Rheinland and the GMG.
620 Kurile discovered by the GMG. Samura eventually manages to construct a research platform on Kurile as part of an effort to harvest the microorganisms for use as fish food on Junyo -- an incredibly success initiative.
630 The impending collapse of fisheries throughout Kusari in 630 AS motivates the government to begin terraforming Junyo using recently discovered Alien Organisms in order to jump-start the nascent ecology. by 680 AS, the planetary environment had been sufficiently altered to begin wide-scale production of Luxury Foods.
642 Yuyu Matsuda, a young but critically acclaimed poet, publishes "Golden Chrysanthemum in Bloom". Charismatic and well-spoken, Matusda has a considerable following among young Kusari women who find their lives lacking in direction but are reluctant to become married and fulfill their traditional role in Kusari society.
648 Yuyu Matsuda is in the botched assassination attempt of the planetary governor of Kyushu.
650 Jump Gate to Sigma-19 is opened; Gas Miner Ogashawa stationed in the system by the GMG and begins full-scale operations.
668 GMG decisively defeats the Rheinland Imperial Navy at the Battle of Yanagi Cloud.
698 A.S. - DSE headquaters move to Pittsburgh.
620-700 A.S. (approximately) - 80-Year War between Rheinland and GMG.

710 An amendment in the Sirius Commerce Pact in 710 allows IC to establish a base in New Tokyo; Roppongi is built shortly thereafter.
723 Battleship Nagumo constructed.
740 A Kusari ship hauling alien organisms across Tau-31 is attacked by pirates and ventures far off course. A hull breach kills the crew, and the ship drifts into the gravitational field of Harris. The organisms not only survive the impact, they flourish in the frigid, oxygen-deficient environment of the planet's surface.
752 A.S. - First stage of Planet Ayr terraforming.
784 The Dark Matter Storm arrives in Kepler, 104 years late. Among the major losses in the trade routes between Liberty and Kusari space were the McKinley (Universal), Nikko Maru (Samura), and Kamakura Maru (Samura). The storm destroys the old trade lane through the eastern part of Kepler
800 As Sigma-13 gas clouds near depletion, GMG moves to acquire new gas miners from Kishiro to make low-density mining profitable again.
800 A.S. - Nomad attempt to overtake Sirius is stopped by The Order. SP campaigh is set through 800-801.
802 Asgard Warriors are assembled
803 Phantom Terrorists appear. Asgard Warriors begins war.
805 Asgard Warriors provoke war with the Sirius Federation.
805 A.S. - Yukon shoud've become a museum (but apparently did not).

I just added a bit about the Alliance-Coalition War and the Exodus. I got my info from the Freelancer Wiki and the rumors from the Corsairs and Outcasts. Btw, I just realized that even though the Outcasts and Corsairs are Spanish, the names of most of their bases are named after places in the Mediterranean! For example, Crete and Malta are islands in the Mediterranean. Also, the Order base, Planet Toledo, is actually named after a city in Spain, even though most of the members of the Order are not Spanish. I noticed this while I was working in my AP World History class.

Nobody knows how long the ships were in hyperspace/subspace/warp/etc. for. They could have traveled for 5 seconds, or 5 centuries for all the knowledge that the colonists had/have. Thats part of the reason that they cannot directly pinpoint the actual location that sirius is, in relation to earth - they headed in the Direction of the Sirius binary sequence, but they have no idea how much they overshot it by.

And probably the Italians, Scandinavians (maybe some got onboard Rheinland? dunno), Austrians (probably too), Portugeese (there's a lisbon station, so maybe they survived), Poles...LOL, I can see Polish-sounding names in Rheinland and Liberty. Seen a red Hessian with a Polish last name. some LPI too.
I do believe the Scandinavians Survived along with Rheinland. Seeing as alot of Rheinland or rheinland originated Stations are named after Danish and Norwegian Cities..Bornholm Depot for instance is the name of well the bornholm island in denmark.
And I wonder if the French, Australian and Italian sleepers rally got blown up...

I wasn't ENTIRELY sure if the other three were French, Italian, and Australian, but I have a pretty good hunch that they were because France, Italy, and Australia were part of the Alliance. It COULD have been another country, but I'm not sure. I got the rumor that there were three other ships on Planet Malta. The rumors of the Corsairs and the Outcasts give you a lot of history on the Exodus and the Great War.

the original alliance consisted of italy, france, germany, GB, USA, spain. i was searching a bit but they didnt mention the smaller euros or canda/australia.
well the creators of the game where mostly serving the clich?s of the costumers (motly GB and USA). so they were basicly cooking:
- some backward spanish criminals
- some evil germans
- some stubborn japanese with exotic looks and ocean planets
french and italy ... er ... no politic clishes here on the first glimps ... so lets forget about them.
and i'm having a feeling that those polish and dutch names rather are the result of a lack of knowlage than anything story-related. most american players RPing germans choose polish names with "ski/sky" or even russians with "ow/ov" in the end of their name because they dont know it better. why should the developers of the game? i mean ... schulsky ... ? .. come on. this one is neither polish nor german.
it would be refreshing to have some italians or french guys in sirius tough. the upper left corner of the sector is just ... empty... put some of the old allies there:D
Edit: ok maybe i was a little hard here. poland and germany are neighbours for a long time now and there were quite some changes of territories in the last centuries with the related migration processes. so from a foreign perspective, it should be really hard to see the diffrence between those names =/

1. they got pwned before the war really even starts
2. their sleeper ship got pwned as well
and, I did notice many of the name in Freelancer are unrealistical. Among which, I strongly doubt Junk'o Zane has any japanese root at all, really.

It probably doesn't. Every Japanese name I've seen has about 3-5 syllables in the first OR last name (all together, that would be 6-10 syllables). Jun'ko Zane just has 2 in the first name and 1 in the last name.

Zane isn't exactly Japanese. From what I know, the Liberty Sleeper ship left before the others, alerting the Coalition Forces to the Sleeper Ships. But the Coalition was also tired of war, so they wanted to enable the Sleeper Ships to escape, thus making the destruction of the remaining Alliance Ships easier. That's why the war ended so soon after the Sleeper Ships left. However certain generals within the Coalition purely hated the Alliance, and wanted all of them destroyed, so they launched an attack on the Sleeper Ships, taking out the Italians, French, Australians and crippling the Hispania and Brettonia. As Nomads and uber-guns and a single guy surviving on the dark side of Pluto, I don't buy it.
The Alliance was NATO + Australia/NZ and Japan.
The Coalition was Russia/China/India/S-E Asia and Latin America.
The Middle Eastern States were destroyed by the united forces of the Coalition and the Alliance, and then the duo went to war. It is also unclear who made the first strike, the Alliance claims it was the Coalition, the Coalition claims it was the Alliance.
Same in Disco, just read Kusari Press vs. Brettonia Press about who started the war. "They did!"
