right. i see your point. still 24 hours seems a bot too... much. and yes, i agree that if KNF defeats the enemy in a system, that system gets temporary under KNF control, until the vanquished are strong enough to get the system back.
If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor
At the risk of being hit with a big Golden Apple by my Goddess..
I would like to commend and thank everyone who has posted on this topic.
The discussion has been rational and reasonably flame-free.
If we could carry this type of communication into the game with us, I believe we would see a lot fewer potential incidents of this type arise.
It has been suggested that faction leaders might get their heads together in private comms after an engagement to sort things out, and agree to the timing and possibly even the extent of the next step. I believe that would be an excellent idea.
As to any regulation or time period on cool-down time, I believe further discussion is needed; but I'm still on my first cup of coffee here.
Nightfall, bud, after more coffee, join me at the Blossom for mutual drinks and possible heart attacks over what seems to be our agreement on something. ;)
(My Goddess, I just used my first smiley in a Disco post! She is gonna come for me!!!! Aaaargh.)
' Wrote:Korrd, I have to disagree on that one, it's not about one fight once a day, it's about re-engaging the same people after you loose. The rules should be either specified before the fight or players should follow the 1 death rule and the 'cool down' time (if it's created). I don't think it would kill the fun.
I guess I got used to the big, epic AW battles. Where we used to be outnumbered 2-3+ to 1, and the enemy kept coming and falling like flies... Like Romans vs Barbarians.
I loved those encounters. Organization against Numbers...
Although I don't agree with the limit, if it is necessary I won't rant about it.

(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
Quote:I think that it should be one death per player, not character. It seemed like we were fighting many more people than we actually were during that fight. I think people get confused or interpret the rules different to other people, and it would be helpful if smaller craft didn't have 3 lives...seeing as a well pilotted bomber can take just about any capship with only one life.
Mcneo, only fighters have 3 lives against battleships. Any decent bomber can kill a capship in 1 life. That's how HF and AW killed SF so many times.
I am a long-absent Supreme Commander, Executive Commander, Grand Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Captain in the mighty Hellfire Legion. I have returned, and am on an urgent mission from Drake Thastus to return the Legion to its former glory, and to claim the galaxy for its own. Only then will I be able to rest.
RP Story (Still deciding whether or not to finish)
@Bestflyer: i still think it would be alot easier to stop confusion if it was 1 death per player regardless of ships. Makes everyones life alot easier....especially when we dont have to count time and again which one has got how many deaths and who's doing what in the middle of an intense firefight.
Had my lesson about the 1-death, wasn't painful, just made the re-arming process quicker.
The way I see it, we have a fight between pure fighting, killing and dying pleasure against fairneess and decisiveness of fights.
On one hand it brings more pleasure just to keep fighting. I admit I do behave like a PvP whore when I see an RP reason to attack. Not to mention defence. However, limiting the possibilities of fighting artificially, by stiff rules is not the best possible solution. the PvP server is never so popular, because most assets, acquaintances and player are on the RP one. With the current popularity, fights are inevitable.
On the other hand, there should be a clear and easy set of rules for all PvP engagements. if there were no rules, it would either be complete chaos or players would work an unwritten code. rules would sereve to define, how to use the respawn system, imlemented in the game in a non-abusive manner. Imo, if a time limit, then perhaps something like in FP shooters? a game-implemented "ban" for that char, which has just been killed. However the game engine disallows such an option as far as I know.
Templar, you may not have noticed but there are a set of rules for PvP fighting. The rest is common sense
and keeping to your faction and NPC alignment guidelines ...
It would nice for there to be a little trust in people to do the right thing. Its not about just the fighting, there
is the roleplay aspect to consider. Being where you should, and shouldn't be for a start ... Leaving the fight
when you should, and not hanging around waiting for the next opportunity to attack ... And basically not
system docking and staying in other faction's space, and so on ...
Anything less and you are beginning to look like its just for the PvP. Not using other peoples diplomatic
moves for your own benefit. Working a bit harder on the forums to create a bit more roleplay.
If you die in your capship in the first five minutes, basically its hard luck, you made your ship choice ...
