I'm gonna address this, since it was my idea.

The Type 2, Charon, wasn't named with the ship in mind, but rather as a mythological reference to the ancient Greek underworld - it seemed fitting enough, considering they're similar to the Cerberus.

The Type 4 was intentionally named based on the codename; a Dulzian's a weaker Solaris, a Type 4 is a weaker capital solaris.

Blame Dusty for the Type 3, that one was his idea.

And it's still better than the generic "Type X" crap that'd been in place, I say.

The idea of class 7 new weapons, type 5, type 6 more focused in combat but not too powerfull, or maybe a class 7 razor, is nice, but for me dont make sense... if you need protection from noobs pirates, pay mercenaries for that!!!! there are a lot of mercs willing to help for some payment... and with the common weapons that we already have for transports we can smash some noobs sometimes.... for me I would keep this way, insted change all the balance of the game... just use the things we already have, mercs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! give a chance to those guys....

NO - NO NO NO GB turrets at transports.... its UNFAIR

a shire can rape a gunboat with its current stats... giving it a GB core lets it chainfire the transport cerbs FOREVER.... meaning.... OMG UNKILLABLE 4k+ transport WITH missile to keep the bombers away. OMG WIN... then the loldent gets swapped with a transport that requires a cruiser or 3 bombers to kill it. DO NOT WANT

BUT add transport missile turret or transport flak and things would be more.... realistic

I think a lot of people that want transports to become pocket cruisers are forgetting that even though your advanced train costs a lot of credits, it's designed to haul cargo, not wage a war.

Why does your 5k train suck at combat? Because you can't have your cake and eat it too. You can make a pile of credits really really quick, and you want to be capable in combat? Get real.

Think about it. IRP, why spend exponetially huge amounts when everyone and their mother can rape and pillage it? E.G they wouldnt. And we tried mercs, they either dont do the job, or they cant kill the pirate.
Of course, nothing about this game makes any sense, so I dont know why we argue about something that the devs will never change ever.

Some people just don't get it. It's big and expensive because because it carries a crapload of cargo.

A transport is this, not this.

I'm not going to tell you to go get escorts, but i will comment on the vanilla status of transports.


In vanilla, every transport had at least two escorts, and the fighters that most house pirates used were barely stronger then the starflea's or star flyers that the escorts used.

The navy assisted transports, and swept the lanes frequently. As did the police forces.


Now, things have been changed in discovery, mainly, the strength of fighters has increased, as have the hulls of transports to reflect that. With standard mkVIII armor a transport can survive the most powerfull weapons any fighter or gunboat class vessel can utilize against it. For a while at least. And some transports are powerful enough to shoot back nearly effectively, and, when used wisely, can run for huge distences.

However, the bomber is a vary strong weapon when used against transports, and adding class 8 turrets to all transports will not help that.

One thing i have though of, is doing to transport weapons what we did to bomber weapons.

We make the current transport turrets class 1, and lower transport slots to class five maximum.Except for the transportsners that the dev team thinks should be able to utilize stronger turrets, which would be class seven, and be stronger. These would be used mostly for liners, and the bigger transports. This would allow liners and the largest of transports to have effective turrets, while keeping smaller transports from having access to insane weapons.



in summery.
the roleplay behind transports being weak, is that escorts are cheap, and strong.
the none roleplay behind transports being weak, is that they are meant to be like that so that pirates have a fair chance, and that escorts are encouraged.
we should overhaul transport guns to give liners a better chance at combat, while still being bomber chow.
