' Wrote:since i wasn t happy with the first concept i made - i revised it to feature slightly more elegant lines. after all... a civilian gunboat doesn t sell itself by just having the stats... it also needs the looks.
furthermore - i decided rather spontanously that it might be a civilian design that is based in bretonia ( like some minor cooperation building it ) - it ought to be as generic as the eagle ( which is build in liberty ) - but bretonian based.
besides - bretonia isn t blessed with too many ships - even if its not "factionized".
and the bretonian colours make it look quite neat i think.
Rather than a gunboat, Jinx what about this being a replacement for the x-shuttle, it looks quite shuttle liek to me, maybe give it a heavy powerplant, 6 class 10 guns , movement of a vhf but with at least 500 cargo space and a transport shield?
' Wrote:i'm very much afraid - but that kind of leaves the only really faction able to build a siriuswide ship that is not a house faction... the zoners.
now - people like the ugly brown colour .. might as well just revive the old conference ( as was suggested quite a few times before )
1) I suppose that leaves every single Civilian vessel in the game as "zoner," which would include Transports, Trains, Lifters, Repair Ships, Hawks, Eagles... etc.
That's, of course, wrong. You can have civilian vessels that are produced part time by some shipyards or built by independent contractors - or, more like than not, they're built in terrestrial ship production facilities.
"Civilian," as existed in Freelancer.
Just because a particular corporation doesn't build a ship, that doesn't mean it automatically goes to the Zoners. That might be hard to grasp, but once you do, it's an exceptionally liberating thing.
I always figured the CT line was built by some big houseless corporation. In my mind I've labelled it "Conroy-Thompson Engineering", but that's just me.
Regarding the ship: I wouldn't fly it, personally, if it had a transport shield. If I fly a GB, I'd want it to be all GB.
I like this a lot, although I think the engine extends out too far
In my mind, that just makes it a big target, blast the engine, and the ship is in trouble

My opinion is that it is a rather nice model, with the exception of the engine, which for some reason does not seem to fit with the rest of the ship. (Perhaps extend the white skin further onto the engine or make the engine shorter?)
Apart from the Bretonian skin, it does not look greatly Bretonian.
I agree with Nooblet about the Engine, but not that it doesnt look like Bretonia. The Front looks like the Shetland. I guess the red Stuff is the Windo right? Is it possible to look through it like the normal Windows?
"Who is it doing this synthetic type of alpha beta psychedelic funkin'?"
Other than the weak shield, the suggested hardpoint setup on page 1 would really make this thing a beast... 4 gb turrets allows for some heavier weaponry or even primary gb turrets for anti-fighter use, but giving it 6 class 10 fighter gun/missile hardpoints allows you to turn this thing into a true missileboat. Fighter missiles take no energy to fire, and they're much faster and more accurate than gunboat missiles - the only downside is the ammo limitation. Still, imagine this thing with 4 gunboat primary turrets, two paralyzer missiles, two cannonball missiles, and two firestalker missiles...
