Make space more realistic, gas giants are not as close / closer to the sun then in real space >_>, and not everything is on the same level...
In short, look at how they made space in EVE, and implant that into FL (Sizing it down by A LOT obviously).

Thats how they should make it in Gallia..the mooring points are a different way there, why not trade lanes?
balance everything according to the ROLE it ought to play, not based on fairness / balance etc. building a military is based on UNfairness - the point is to be stronger, more powerful than the other side, not to be a gentleman.
- for that matter, Diablo2 hardcore rules for capital ships. - you die, you re gone ( poof ) - but to make up for it, they are as powerful as they are meant to be. - fighters and bombers can be softcore, but it should take a load of them to take down anything big ( a load = dozens, unless the enemy is a moron )
well - result:
- crying capital ship captains ( as there are crying diablo2 players that just lost their lvl90 chars )
- crying fighterpilots, cause they cannot take down big ships easily anymore
- or - after a longer period of whining and crying - possibly some responsibility of those that are left:laugh:
oh - for that matter, quickdocks should be removed, and a long docking sequence depending on the size of the ship should be introduced - while the player docking is 100% vulnerable.

Liking that idea very much.
Bombers are the most over powered ship in the game.
That, or make better asteroid fields. *Points at 88flak* No solid pieces that aren't movable, and always have them on some sort of motion. *Points at the massive chunks of ice in certain ice fields* For instance, some of THOSE flying at you big enough to crush you...Do want.
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.

We're all susceptible to it at times, I won't say that I'm not. It's the most annoying part of the game by far. Paranoia, anger, delusions of supremacy. I'd end all that if I could. The actual game is already fantastic, though Jinx's ideas sound really nice too. But the community is both the best, and the worst part of Discovery.

1. Remove all npcs, and introduce 2 wingman commodities: fighter (they fight with you) trader (they trade with you and you get a percentage of the profits)
2. remove the spawning of the 'shootable' rocks
3. these changes would allow a player base of 2000
4. make hegemons work like they should, chewing up asteroids
5. remove ALL tradelanes (boost cruise a little to compensate, see point 9)
6. planets orbiting the sun, so their place in the system is not fixed (this can be done without planet collisions if we take places off the datum plane)
7. bases like Trenton and the Lux Liners actually orbiting the olanet they are on (if it is treated as a permanent spawn, with a fixed patrol path, the planet would actually drag the basener with it)
8. rescale the entire mod so the systems are 4x newcastle, but the planets are to scale of the ship
9. remove the cruise limit: in RL if there is nothing slowing the ship down, it would get faster and faster... but it takes time to slow the ship down as well.
10. introduce gravity... if you sit out near manhatten for too long, expect to get dragged into the atmosphere
