In general though, the Corsairs are weaker than the Outcasts (shock! horror!), so why ally with the weaker side, when the Outcasts, already their buddies, can provide Dreadnoughts and drugs to their hearts' content.
Corsairs are far more numerous than the Outcasts, and certainly stronger (just because of their numbers, since technology is on similarly high level).
Why not ally with the Outcasts? Because they are far away. Look at the system map. How can the Outcast ships get to Toledo? Only through several Nomad systems, which is hazardous; or through Crete, not good idea as well; through Manhattan? Heh.
The distance is not a problem when factions exchange information, or carry out missions in certain locations of Sirius, but what if regular supplies are necessary? Regular exchange of ships, people, etc?
But... The Corsairs get a large portion of their food from the Zoners, and the Order is already allied with the Zoners, so why get food and other supplies from the Corsairs when the Corsairs just get it from the Zoners?
I think that made sense.
Wouldn't the Order go directly to the (already allied) source, the Zoners?

Good points.:)
Of course, Drake makes a good point too. The Zoners would probably provide them food, and I can see the Order being one of the few groups that the Zoners would construct biodomes for.
Also, where did the Order get supplies from in the Nomad War? Their allies then were the Bundschuh, the Blood Dragons and, to a lesser extent, the Outcasts.
I can see them maybe getting Corsair aid, but I can't see them fighting their old allies. Both the Corsairs and the Outcasts need the Order to beat down the aliens in the Omicrons.

Indeed. The BLS looks favourably on the Order since they help keep the Omicrons clean, and we have to smuggle through those sometimes. But since they're allied to our most hated enemy, we can't really set them any higher on our diplomacy than 'unfriendly'.

I've always liked that rumor.
The problem I have is that the Order actually has the Outcasts on it's enemy list... It's not just 'guilt by association' with the Corsairs, but the Order is actually hostile towards the Outcast Alliance.
