It was a rather logical solution and we had to go through many faction leaders to get it approved. Unfortunately, the movement lost momentum and had a general lack of support. I don't mean in the way of "we dislike this idea." I mean people just weren't rooting for it. Particularly those people that I thought would support it -- Bowex and Corsair faction leaders.
This isn't about "Nerfing" this faction or that, but instead it's about expanding the rp integrations in places where game mechanics have previously not allowed for it.

I was mentioning that in passing. Not sure what this has to do with what Hawkings and I were trying to accomplish. As a matter of fact our idea was not going to "nerf" anything from our perspective. It was on the contrary, going to add a lot of Roleplaying opportunities for a whole slew of factions. Most importantly, it was also going to fix some major plot devices such as:
1) How was the planet found in 760 when Zoners were still looking for one in 800.
2) And, how did the Zoners come to own Gran Canaria and the Corsairs didn't simply take a fertile planet from them which would not only solve starvation but increase their military strength.
Well the Zoner dates do need to be revised not just for that clash but the population spike as well. I had suggested sometime ago that everything including the beginning of the Zoner movement get pushed a few generations further into the past to help give this credibility which would still need a refugee boost in there somewhere as well.

The Corsairs on GC. Yes, I remember when the colony in question came into existence. If you remember, Zelot, you and I actually RP'd that. It came about AFTER Bretonia tried claiming GC as newly discovered and tried claiming it as Planet Sydney. After some negotiation, the Port Jackson refugee settlement was settled for those displaced by the Kusari/Bretonia conflict. It was after that that the Corsairs announced their settlement on the far side of the planet.
As with Port Jackson, the Sairs were left to themselves and both were subject to Zoner law away from their colonies. The Corsair settlement made some RP sense since the info card on GC states that the Zoners hired the Corsairs to maintain security in fear of an expansionist Bretonian empire. While most of the Corsairs were there to grow food for their people, hence, still being a Corsair even in a peaceful environment for the lack of better terms.
I also think that this is a partial reason to heal wounds of recent conflicts. This isn't the first skirmish between Zoners and Corsairs. From time to time I would venture, tempers do flare. I always RP Doc as someone who even gives medical to both the Corsair colony and Port Jackson and depending on circumstances, will have his staff keep doing so.

As infocard lead, working out the Zoner timeline (and Gran Canaria more generally) is on my to-do list. Along with a bazillion other things, of course; but I do plan to get around to it. Eventually.
I think its an angle that hasn't been given as much attention as it deserves in this recent spat. I'm glad someone brought it up formally, I'd had a few daydreams on the matter previously. However, as it is presently 1:24 AM my time, I won't do so now... *thunk*
