Completely wrong approach, imo.

Solo-mining is an activity that doesn't have to do discouraged. It is the one activity that breeds cooperation. Why?

You look at the player list. See a "Gold_miner2" and you log on. PM him. "Can you mine?" and... Bingo! Players are interacting.

There are only a few groups that log together. But that takes networking, contacts, groups that already exist to work. And, just by the way: the indie groups that are formed sometimes are those who are driven off the server for being "not good enough".

All our new players who try to earn money (to participate in the game as full players) do not have that group. They lack the contacts. They would suffer from it and would not go to the few remaining "almost-hubs" that still were not killed completely.

The suggestion adds nothing and takes away the only possibility for single players to gather group contacts by being in one place over a longer time, doing something that attracts other players (traders, unlawfuls, etc).

Merry Christmas! Smile

The suggestion is to buff group mining. How buffing group mining in any way makes solo mining obsolete?

Group mining is strong enough. A group of 4 miners fills a transport quickly enough.

The suggestion in the OP however was to nerf solo mining to almost nothing by taking away the multiplier.

That's not what is necessary at all.
