Quote:As a self-professed POB 'hater', I guess this change makes me personally happy - but I empathise strongly with those who currently run POBs. A Core 4 taken down in half an hour by 10 battleships? Really?
Don't get me wrong, I think reducing the strength of bases is a very good idea, but (and this is coming from me) this might be a step too far. POBs may as well be removed altogether with this change, honestly, for all the time they'll last.
Might as well just remove POB's from the game all together...

In before a developer posts an announcement that they had planned all along that base hitpoints are going up drastically as well, so that base owners have time to respond to a siege while limited numbers of caps will still be able to damage a base.
We're all just stupid for not knowing this before it was posted.
And it totally was planned all along - this decision to up base hitpoints was in fact not triggered by them reading the maths here and going "Oops".
(:
You kinda ruined the good laugh I was gonna have when they did that since they probably won't after reading this.

What exactly are you talking about lyth? Only a very few amount of stations are actually positioned in key places -and- have the required weapon platform number to -actually- pose a danger. Very few. Most bases shouldn't really matter to anyone in an in-game sense. Unless someone's jealous of another dude's base or simply hates him.

Not rly, I've known you for years, you've only stopped agreeing after I started killing IMG instead of defending them.

You are mean too. I suppose you don't cheat because you don't know how.
YO! Let's not generalize man. I'm a mean person, I also know how to cheat, I just don't. There are more than a few people that are the same.

And back to srs bsns. Basically I agree with Karst's whole idea to up hitpoints. It -sort of- compensates for the huge nerf. +1
i dunno if its specificly off topic if you feel it is i apologise but ive been searching round the forums trying to find any mention but.. Is there any truth the the pob's are the cause of the... crappy lag and crashes we endure now?
Thing is, the only constant in the universe IS change.
If you can't handle your POBs going 'pop' - don't build one!
Ignore them and enjoy your RP.
Anyone have a ship that has never been blasted to smithereens here?
Maybe, just maybe, the fun of POBs is that the work never ends.
Like a good relationship, they take constant work.
Neglect them or take them for granted at your own extreme and guaranteed risk.
Don't want to interface with the community to keep it alive?
Cry me a river.
I love this change.
I'll never build a POB, cause I hate grinding and prefer dynamic interaction - but I can live with this.
How's your intestinal fortitude?

But how many of your ships were permanently deleted when they were destroyed?
How many ruined relationships re appeared without effort the next time you 'logged on'?
Not to be smarmy, really.
But I was suggesting the need to work constantly to keep something dynamic, fragile, and worthwhile.
Or, like me (and quite a few others) choose to value your fellow players over 'things' and enjoy their company instead.
