That better not have happened. The .beam command is not to be used for moving players around for anything but Admin enforcement of server rules or movement of the [Admin] tagged ships.
If its being used for anything else I'll make sure that abuse stops.
Actually, it is also used for setting up Keepers and Wild, and probably Phantoms since they have similar but not quite as nasty rep issues. I can only personally testify for the Wild, but my talks with others make me pretty sure that the Keepers get it too. And they should, since flying all the way out there in a starflier is quite difficult when everyone and their dog is red to you, and they so happen to get shot at by any and all passerbys just for having that tag.
Not to mention that all three factions get uber-flamed for the slightest slip-up, and even for not being the perfect images of what any given individual deems them to be.
I was .beamed to the Revenant, I think its allowed since getting there in a starflier is improbable, and docking is completely impossible.

For all three, I see issues arising there. According to this thread, terrorists should not be allowed to kill things indescriminately. Of course, the aims of our respective factions are clearly the opposite. Small paradox.
However I do sympathise with those that hold the view that we shouldnt be able to kill indescriminately. It makes people wonder why they have to stick to the "rules", while in their opinion, we dont. Ill tell you now, thats because the consequences of failure are far higher [consequences of threads like these, even for no failure at all...], and more importantly, the leaders of their respective factions feel that their members are trustworthy enough to be proper and obey the rules that are set for them.
This rumour of "Phantoms are only admins or friends of" may be partly true, but isn't it true that I know my friends better than I know a random stranger I see walking down the road? The more you know someone, generally the more you know what they can be trusted to do or not to do.
