I'm not going to pressure you to change, but I will tell you that this is a bad reason for choosing not to start a faction in Bretonia. The BPA are quite active...you know...

Yep but while having Samura, it increases activity in Kusari, which they need.

Shouldn't Samura be able to use Kusari vessels such as the cruiser, gunboat, bombers and fighters because were ally with the Kusari Police and Military. Of course with KNF approval.

Actually, no I don't think so. They might build the ships, but how do they expect to cover up the fact that their using a ship meant for the military?

Plus then you have to think, where are they going to keep such a ship, somewhere out of sight and away from prying eyes would be a start, so thats well out of kusari space.

Actually I think you'd be fine using just the transport and civilian fighters, the starblazer is an evil little ship in the right hands, with a debilitator and three civilian lasers it won't do much damage but it can survive just by dodging.

Also, you don't need to kill a pirate to stop them getting your cargo, having to duel a LF that you can't hit will frustrate the pirate and cause them to leave you alone, hopefully.

So when you do start this faction I'd suggest the following as a ship list:

Escort fighters:

Starblazers for house systems, griffens for borderworlds.

Trading ships:

Bumblebee for kusari trade routes,
Transports for other house systems,
Armoured transport for borderworlds.

Reasons:

Starblazer in house systems, the local police should be more then willing to help out a trader in trouble.

Griffen, the extra armour will come in useful for the radiation cloud around planet kurile and the other dangers of the borderworlds.

Bumblebee in kusari, in house trade routes should be quick and easy, so a ship that can at least stall a pirate until the police show up is a must.

Transports to other houses, the larger cargo bay and armour means it should be able to get the cargo to the destination, minus an escort possibly...

Armoured transport for the borderworlds, the name says it all, plus it has enough firepower to help it's escorts to repel any pirates.

But thats just how and why I'd do it, I have no intention of running or starting a faction, not enough time to devote to it.

Samura is tied directly to the Kusari government.

They Manufacture most, if not all, of the Kusari Naval vessels.

If Samura told the Kusari Navy to jump, they would probably have to get the measuring tape out.

everything points to Kusari being run by Kishiro and Samura, with the Shogun as a pawn figurehead.

point I am trying to make is... would Samura buy its escort vessels off someone else, or would it use the better ones it makes itself?

I'm with you on this Puck... but only for Samura, out of all the trading factions.

Any Samura escorts should be able to use military spec equipment. But from RP point of view you wouldn't have anything bigger than a GB as an escort, whether you built the ships or not.

I agree for sure, anything bigger then a gunboat would not be cost effective at all.

Well, I base my characters ship choices and weapon loadouts, where possible, on what the NPCs use.

All lawful companies use house frieghters, transports, adv. transports, trains, adv. trains and armoured transports.

All of them escorted by startrackers or hawks.

No HFs, no VHFs and definately no bombers.

So I don't see why a lawful company needs to use military ships, I can understand a civilian company using two civilian bombers as escorts for the CEOs personal armoured transport, but not for a shipment of food or commodities.

I'd much rather see lawful trading companies using LFs, even mk2 ones, then VHFs and bombers. Because the escorts aren't there to kill pirates, the escorts are there to discourage the pirates or hold the pirates off long enough for the police to arrive.

Why would you ever need capital ships?

They wouldn't be able to stop your competitors due to the fact that they can't attack traders, and they are horrible escorts, being too bulky to follow even the biggest traders around.
