Novas in large battles are and will be problematic.
It is rather difficult to balance them so that on one side 2 bombers have some chance of scoring Nova hits vs a single BS, while at the same time 5 bombers don't blast 4 bs too fast with them.
All this in a changing environment where with no lag all novas hit if not countered and with lost of lag (in some large battles) novas don't hit at all.
One possible modification would be to lower flak power use but also lower refire rate. Not sure if it's a good idea, it makes it possible for the bs to shoot other guns with the occasional flak in between, but punishes bad flak shots (which happen quite often with the near-far camera problems etc etc).

Thing is, this will only apply to the environment with low player count.
In large fights, once focused, you have absolutely no time to waste on other weapon groups - you pay all of your attention towards incoming novas. and even then it's not enough, because flak range, i.e. 1000m, and with average novas speed of 250-300m/s (with ship acceleration), you'll notice the incoming crosshairs in 3-4 seconds before impact.
Imo, the core of the problem is that in bomber vs capship fights, with large amount of people involved, we have two worlds "colliding".
First world is where fights can last for hours and vessels rely on their evasive capabilities to stay alive, here player's skill matters more, then in the second.
Second world is where fights often last for mere minutes (in case of battleships) or tens of minutes (in case of cruisers vs battleships), and where vessels rely on their armor and firepower (compared to first "world) to survive. Here it's more often about tactics and organization.
The ultimate solution would require rebalancing the whole "lesser" (snubs) or "bigger" (caps) shipline of disco, by moving both of those worlds towards each other (preferably first to second, though). But that would require too significant amount of work =\
Is it possible to make nova's ammo capacity an exception, in the mod? for example, reduce it's DpS, but proportionally increase the amount of novas available to bomber, without changing any other ammo sizes in mod (and other stats of Nova, xcept for lower price)? This would allow capital ship to survive for longer period of time, thus giving fighters an ability to do at least something.
Of course it's far from optimal solution, more like a temporary "crutch".
I could imagine how the nova torps be a great problem for a capital group if there are several bombers..How ever I think its good that they are overpowered for now. I think in the future they should simply get a reduced range so the capital ship gets a chance to get a shot at the person before the torp comes. An eye for an eye strategy. Cause if you think carefuly: These torps fill the 'clear a path for us we are bombing' ways in combat. So these torps could have a 500m range and a big enough explosion range that if you use it on fighters/bombers your dead..but if you use it on caps you can get away easy. Plus they might get less guided, so more a straight-to-target torpedo.
But for now I would keep them overpowered, as most people are in capital ships now: I would like to see them gett less tempted to get on their capital ship
I hope this post brought people on ideas, or that I brought a good meeting-discussion point.
This post was a pure opinionizing post, and not an post to convince or to advice.
It are not the actions that defines a mans worth...
It are the intentions what are behind it,
What makes the person who he is and where he stands for.
