Well. Server was lagging as hard as always for the past few hours. It certainly is better under less load, where it would normally spike more. Not much of a difference at high population though, there's still irritatingly large amounts of lag.

I voted yes, but I want to say, that there is something wrong with the server itself.

I remember, that few months ago Disco server appeared very quickly on the servers list and the connection to the server was fast.

Now Disco server appears as last on the list, and the connection to it takes long time.
It looks like the load of server is high or the net is overloaded.

Technerf should be limited or gotten rid of entirely. It's one of several rules and gameplay hacks which are designed mainly to stop OoRPers, but tend to make life a pain for various parties elsewhere.

The sorts of types who would fly a Molly Sammael Odin in New Tokyo are going to be lolwuts no matter what we do. The best solution is to try to educate them, and give them an administrative whooping of the heiney if they do something profoundly stupid.

The ID rephacks help a lot. It makes it so you won't have Outcasts docking on Crete to buy Tizzies. If he wants them that bad, he will have to buy it from an arms dealer or loot them from a wreck. Both of which are perfectly legit ways to acquire weaponry, and would promote more arms dealers that can now make a profit without having to harvest codes all the time.

Another thing to consider is some poorer unlawful groups are pretty rag-tag. LWB, Bundschuh, GC, Gaians, Rogues, Xenos, who don't have the same sort of infrastructure as the Outcasts, Corsairs, Red Hessians, Mollys, etc. Let alone lawfuls. So it makes sense they'd use whatever ships they can get.

Same with Freelancers. If they have the money and go through the right channels they should be able to buy whatever they want short of Dreadnaughts and Nomad Ships. Possibly with the exceptions of 'rare' ships like RoS or HF faction vessels. In this case, some kind of ID script can be made that dosen't let FL IDs buy certian equipment from certain bases.

House intelligence agencies like LSF/MI6/KPT/BdM/Whatever Gallia has would probably also use unorthodox ships for covert ops purposes to blend in better and for secret spy stuff.

While the technerf allows this, it also means that anything 'unusual' becomes toothless. The only alternative is we're stuck tied up in Special Roleplay Requests, which seems like too much of a hassle for something so simple.

If you can make an OP PvP load-out by combining opposing faction tech without a nerf, the Balance Team is doing something wrong.

I think people's memories of why the technerf system came into being in the first place are starting to fade ...

It was to stop faction leads granting or refusing tech based on their supposed friend-groups regardless of RP merit. An automated system takes away everybody's toys, and some people like that. The same people that are simply intolerable to interact with, masquerading their intentions as selfless and noble when they are in fact, motivated by jealousy.

At least the SRP system still exists in some form.

That said, I do not actually mind the technerf system that much. Why is it the cause of this many complaints? It is a system managed entirely by a logic machine with a programmed set of rules. Everybody is equal, unless they have a costly SRP. Surely that should please everybody? The only things I disagree with in the current version of technerfs are the cases where faction A has, say, 90% to faction B, but faction B only has 75% to faction A. Such policies ruin the only desirable feature of the technerf system - equality.

Can somebody tell me why the ship tech nerf broke only the TS/TZ on Liberty caps?

I'm afraid the majority of lag on the server happens to be related to anti-cheat software.
