Since we fight against those things frequently as Order, I must say that the BHG Gunship is rather at its best at the moment. Very hard to hit due to its agility and size. If we give it some more boost, it would alter the course of battles a lot, which would kinda drop off the balance of things.
yesterday, i noticed that there are 3 gunships+1 bomber in gamma. i decided to testsomething i undocked my dread (16 regular bs turrets)
and you know whatis funny? that gunship can dodge bs fire on distance 400+m without any problem. and i think that is impossible for any other gunboat ship class. so when you are thinking that it is weak, ok give it another 2 guns, but make it 2 times bigger and slower that people can hit it as any other ships.

That is better than funny, that is outright hilarious. I can't wait for someone to tell you to "learn to aim".
Just kidding. But if it was changed, then it wouldn't be a gunship any more, it would be the Orca.
Personally I think the ship is fine; it is certainly not the ship it was in 4.84, and once you remember that, it works well in certain circumstances. and is rubbish in others. As all ships are.

The BH gs is harder to hit, but it also has less hull and less armor enhancement capability than other gbs.
As for some other gbs that are hard to hit due to their shape, there's the Zoner gb and the Order gb. They're thin like the gs, only horizontally.
Oh, we already have a gb that is twice as big and easier to hit. It's called the Orca.
If you're having trouble hitting BH gunships, try using battle razors: one hit destroys shields, the second one either destroys them outright or leaves them with a sliver of hull.
You are in a bit of a disadvantage, in my opinion at least, in engagements. In order it to be effective against anything is that you have to learn to evade with it. GS is like a fighter or bomber in that regard. It can not trade punches with other ships that easily. Then you have to learn to make the most of your weapons (aim etc.). BUT when you get the hang of it you will be very hard to bring down.
Personally I think GS punishes the mistakes the pilot makes harder than a GB does. GB can always recover somewhat. I think GB is simpler to fly in terms of tactics. You just force the opponent to joust you. Whereas in GS jousting might get you killed easily. There are places and instances when you should joust in GS, but you need to have more tricks up in your sleeve than that too. So I think GS is closer to a bomber how it should be flown.
So, I think GS is a rewarding ship to fly. Maybe the 6 guns could point forward. If the 6 guns would point forward then it would make even visiting the turret mode obsolete and it would become a powerful SHF.

Since the moment I need to buy time to turn and shake off those pursuing me with my 2 backward mounted missile launchers. It's not the main fighting style, but it's just that little extra in special situations.
Go to turred mode for a quick missile in the face and you'll see them veer off pretty quickly. A rather nasty surprise for the most of them I would say. Most pilots tend to come very close when in pursuit thus minimizing their chances of evading the missiles.
