yes. I know. I don't really understand this resistance, especially that Junkers can use almost any ship, civilian, pirate as well bombers (eg.waran on Trafalgar), gunboats, cruisers (pirate cruiser on Bornholm)...
people need junker bases, but better without junkers.

btw. who is junking in French systems?

Yes, we 'can' use almost any other ship in the game, but that doesnt mean we should.

Those other ships are either pure combat focused, or pure transport/cargo movement focused. Junkers require multi-purpose vessels that can salvage wrecks, smuggle illicit cargo (we do run the black market after all), transport cargo between junker bases, and defend junker bases from attack - all in one.

We really need our own ship line so we -dont- have to keep using ships from other factions.

Mulit-purpose vessels are going to be not so good compared to pure vessels, that's just the trade off you have to make. For balance and not having everyone PvPwhoreyour ships.


I fly Rogue ships, you want more cargo you sacrifice combat ability. All my ships turn like a cow and have at least one less gun than any other VHF, the trade off is better armour and more cargo hold...

Oh and the complaint about everyone saying Junkers shouldn't need to have combat ships is no where near the level of Xenos trying to get a modified Starblazer or a jury-rigged Eagle. We don't even want new ships and all we get is "Xenos are too poor".

That's because the jury-rigging wouldn't actually change what the ship was, Del. All it would be is a slightly tweaked civilian ship with a different name. You might as well just Pretend that you have those tweaks because it's not going to make that much of a difference.

That isnt to say that junker ships should be defenseless though, we've got a lot of criminals to deal with who wont have a second thought about attacking us if they get an advantage. We've also got to deal with xenos constantly in almost all systems of liberty, as well as some of the independent systems (bering, mainly) - and the hogosha are becoming more powerful as kusari continues kicking bretonian arse.

Our ships need high cargo space, armor, and firepower, at the expense of manuverability. Our ships have to be able to haul in scrap as well as defend illegal cargo and stop attacks against our bases - the CSV is a perfect example of that aside from being a pretty ****ty vessel balance-wise.

It has a freighter shield, so it can go up to more than twice the shield capacity of a VHF, and it's got more cargo space and armor than most heavy fighters.

What I'm looking for primarily is a junker 'capship' that isnt a capship. Think something along the lines of the container transport - it's got a -lot- of firepower, quite a bit of armor, and a lot of cargo space, but it turns like a brick. It cant go up against other capships, but it's nearly impossible to take down with a fighter and it can take out other transports fairly easily.

If Jinx's junker salvage frigate was made with those kinds of stats (high armor, 12 transport turrets, transport shields, high cargo space, low manuverability) it'd be perfect as a mobile salvage yard and as a defensive vessel for junker bases.

I hate capships. this kind of warships should have got only house militaries, corsair and outcast military factions. other factions might have got one or two such ships operated inside their faction system or near main base. that is all imho.
xenos, junkers, hogosha ect. shouldn't get warships. but if gaians will have got their own beauty, gaia-style gunboat, why wouldn't other poor factions have them also?

and there is always the fact that those modelling rather model for the factions they play. - that is not cause they want to spoil it for others - but its mostly cause they know the factions they are involved with better - and find it easier to make a model.



that is why i started out making zoner ships and having a much clearer idea of how a gaian ship should look ( from my point of view ) or how BHG ships should look.



thats also the reason i had so much trouble making a junker design. cause although i know the junkers in theory from what i gather from stories and other ppls opinion... i never played the faction myself and never really cares much for them... its hard to make a model when you re not interested in the faction.



so - in a way, its totally biased who gets new ships and who not. - for example - from what i read... igiss liked the order light carrier much ( i am surprised ) - although its not really a ship they "deserve" when it comes to adding new ships. - a lot of it is much about if there is a model and if he likes the look. that is more important than thinking of "if a model can be justified in RP" ( or else we wouldn t have dragon warships or even zoner warships, i guess )



the best modeller for a junker is someone that dedicates his sparetime to playing junkers. for that, its really promissing to see tyro making junker ships.

yes. you are right Jinx. all what you said is true.
I understand well why you make ships for zoners and gaians.
I think about ships for junkers because of the same.
each of us thinks about own faction, mod creator has to look at the whole.
