I test ran it last night in open SP. I copy pasted the exact values of the Falcon's agility. This baby feels VERY agile. I sometimes wonderd If I had made a mistake and copy pasted a Lightfighter value intead.. but I double and triple checked... It's a falcon:)
Weapon systems I planted a Titan powerplant and engine. 4x Salamancas Class 9s will eat through the powerplant well enough... it's ot overkill drainage but u can most certainly not spamfire to your heart' s content.
Gave it a class 10 shield which I feel it badly needs as 8200 armor is NOTHING to nomad cannons... been hunting nomads near the Kappa JH and it's bad if you get hit.. shield and hull goes away pretty fast. But the agility really makes this one shine in evasion.
6x salas sometime seem to kinda make it feel sameish as 4x codies. but if you use 4 salas and 2xsunstalkers... you can really put a dent in enemies.
Of course I have no way to test it's efficiency in pvp. But as the current stats go. It's not a "gimme your best shot...I can take it!" kida ship... it's more of a "hit me if you can!". Even class 10 shield goes down real fast and 8200 armor felt weakish vs nomad NPCs. But I was able to get the upper hand everytime, despite an odd scare here and there where I actually heard "Hull breach Imminent".
Angel_of_Mercy: I kinda like the idea of making ships hve special bilities or distinctive qualities or drawbacks, but even this setup I described above was purely for testing purposes. The ship feels nice to fly and that's what i wanted.. there seem to be no apparent bugs whatesoever so it's all good. I'll leave the rest of the setup up for decision by the dev team. I'll probbly send this as an exampe setup but i'll leave the rest to them. I sometmes feel it needs a bit more hard hitting though. At this point this ship seems fitted for missile use. 4 salas to take down shield and extra damage and blow them apart with dual sun stalkers or cannon balls. However... I really want to know how this baby goes in PvP.
Anyone know how the IDS name and infos assigning work? I mean i know how to set it up but I don't know the free slots for the next patch? is the dev team supposed to fill that out?
Actually the 6 salas drain the pwerplant well enough.
However my further testng showed that 4salas +2 cannonballs work like a charm. So maybe the Titan powerplant ain't all that required. Plus you can't fire 6 codeis cuz the HP's are class 9 only;)all 6
My current test setup is 6x Class 9 HPs + CD/T HP
8200 armor (less than centurion)
Class 10 Shield
Titan engine and powerplant
Falcon agility
55/55 nanos/bats
45 Cargo space
all the rest is by FL standards.
My Titan is outfitted with 4 Excaliburs and 2 Tizonas, and I know for a fact that I can't drain my powerplant during a PVP. Group Battles or NPC hunting are different things altogether. you have to conserve your energy in these situations, in order to be able to make quick bursts of full power whenever you see your enemy in a good situation.
Edit: My Bundschuh has an even more draining setup (4 Lugers and 2 Debbies and a debbie turret) and it still holds out pretty well, despite the reduced powerplant.
in my experience a class 10 shield from crete does not hold well enough against multiple NPCs and this ship has to have a dmg buffer cuz those 8200 armor go away pretty darn fast.
I see you point about pvp Fero... Do you have any other powerplant you wanna sugest more fitting for a 6 hardpoint salas and tizona combo? I can always go ahead and try it;)
Fact is...with that setup(note that i talk about vs npc only since in open SP i cant try pvp) you gotta treat this baby like a LF..always on the move. You stay put for a second too long and you get dead or get real close to it. I've managed to come out alive vs 6 or 7 level 17-19 BH's (some friendly sometimes appeared on occasion and helped)from the malvada cloud but I do press nanos alot.
A shield dmg buffer seems very fitting and from what i culd see... it's nothing that will keep you alive if you don't get your arse in gear out there.
all this is moot point anyways since the dev team will have final saying and I wont contest anything they say about balance (they should know better than me). I'm only speaking based on these trials I put the ship through.
It's not durable in terms of armor in any conceivable way against the NPCs in Gamma. I gave it a class 10 shield so this ship an survive more than 1 jousting charge. If they go all shield buster and launch a really heavy hitter like a missile or mine or evn a good barrage of codies... this ship is GONE on the first pass.
One can argue armor upgrades, which i currently have not equiped, will make a difference and I believe it will help ofc... but in pvp, the enemy has them as well... and codies.
Edit: I would suggest the 11400/1160. It's the Sabre powerplant. Or even the Eagle powerplant (10400/1100). I assume the ship in terms of size is between Centurion/Titan. With the proposed armor (8200) this should work pretty well.
I agree, Titan powerplant is out of the question for such an agile ship.
Biggest powerplant a HF can use is, actually, a HF power supply of 9k.
Centurion uses a bit weaker version (8900) so that might work too.
Second thing, Falcon numbers are a bit away, that's why it feels so agile.
It's third line for rotation_inertia is only 1.000. When you divide third line of steering_torque to it (48k) is very uber.
Other ships have that value maybe 8, or 9 when you divide it.
Falcon has 48!!!
So I think that's a bit out of the question as well, but that's just me.
I don't know anymore what's it's gonna be.
People are throwing different ideas all the time, so someone has to make a decision.
Either VHF, HF or interceptor (4 x 10's) or some hybrid.
But it has to keep their characteristics.
You can't make a HF with class 10's and class 10 shield and HF agility.
That's a hybrid, much like BD HF. We don't want that since it's uber.
