Well, Turkic. Both the Bulgarians and the Turks spoke a language from the Altaic family, but the Turks that later came to Asia Minor and the Medieval Bulgarians didn't speak the same language. King of like German and English.

Yeah, the local slavic population outnumbered the bulgarians settling here so our language evolved to be slavic rather than turkish-based.
