We tried in bret and got dumped on.You will seldom see [OPG]Skullsplitter/[OPG]Skullsplitter_GB/[OPG]Skullsplitter_IIC around brte space anymore. If i do have a need to go there i will not engage in anymore PvP since that is what we have been acused of wanting. I am not angry,i am just dissapointed.Used to have lots of fun with the SF,but the BPA seem to be diff.So be it i am done there.Period end of disscussion.:(
I'm disappointed to hear this. I honestly didn't mean to come across so negatively, and I apologise wholeheartedly. I don't think it's fair to call this whining; I think people are hoping for something to develop from this event that makes playing this game more enjoyable for everyone. I also think people have been very specific about what direction they hope our playing together takes. I'd ask you to not give up on Bretonia completely. It was unfair of me to, as was described, tar all corsairs with the same brush. I was definitely wrong to do that. Apologies to all and Im sorry if the tone was negative. (That's probably a consequence of my own stupid behaviour - it's all too easy to commit to the screen stuff that you probably should have had a really hard and long think about before saying)
ps and i actually enjoyed the "playing with themselves" thing, whether it was intentional or not.
pps it actually struck me here that any resentment on the lawfuls part should be aimed at our superior officers and intelligence services for not seeing this coming....but that kind of talk could get me fired.....
pps It is nt really part of this thread but it has come up - the capital ship corsair thing is, let's face it, often ludicrous and prohibitive to realistic RP (relatively speaking)
Solutions?
a. the extreme, non-inclusive option - only RP with other factions (ignore the indies), but how friendly is it to exclude people...
b. lawfuls could encourage corsair factions to clamp down on renegades and absorb them/force them into line -
c. start a recruitiment drive in liberty for pilots for the QCRF - i mean to say, we dont want mercenaries and bounty hunters doing all the work in bretonia
I also think this thread will generate some good yet by way of RP, so maybe with some optimism we might end this discussion and get back to having a good time... (which is to say i wont say any more and i hope ive learned something from the contributions people have made)
I want to make one thing clear:
We weren't SIEGING Cambridge, that was something we never said, the person who started this thread did. Our goal was to
1. gather pharmaceuticals, which we did, but no BPA came to stop it :S.
2. pressure Bretonia into allowing looser restrictions on pharmaceuticals by acts of terrorism (killing npc trade ships)
I personally don't agree with this whole RP, I think the reason behind it is a bit dumb, but I'm up for a bit more action in Bretonia, so I agreed to it.
Second:
I am toning down the caps in OPG, we'll still be using gunboats, but cruisers are now going to be severely limited, so you'll never seen them outside of our own territory (gamma/om41/om5 etc.). Especially in Bretonia, light fighters and maybe 1 bomber if you were lucky against a cruiser was just too boring.
But the BPA really should get some heavier ships, if bombers and VHF are too much, at least equip everyone with a HF, those LF are really just useless...
I'm all up for a scheduled event, kind of like capture the flag/TransportFullOfPharmaceuticals:P
PM me and we'll see if we can schedule something.

Bretonians don't have an HF, just so you know. Rather, we do. It mounts class 6 guns.
Looser restrictions on Pharmaceuticals? its not a restricted substance...anyone can get them....hell, you can transport them to bloody kusari and no one will stop you. What is restricted are traders who are known to support Corsairs.

Wait, what about the Templar? Or is that just NPC only?

Whoopsies, I forgot there is a difference between HF and VHF. I just kinda clump em all together....
(Not posting anything else because everything that needs to be said already has been)

After reading through the whole thread I'm throwing in my observations on this based purely on this thread. I've been away for a week so no server insight. I've a vested investment in Cambridge with my Bowex char so I'm interested to see how this goes.
This whole incident smacks spur-of-the-moment-thing with quick decisions all along the way. At the moment raiding/sieging Cambridge must have seemed a brilliant idea. However all the consequences (and RP realities) are just dawning on people.
OPG to my knowledge is rather new clan and are paying the price for learning the trade here. So go easy on them and don't kill them off. I think this whole thing could have been handled a bit better from both sides.
There seems to be two peeves in the situation.
1) No advance notification/indication.
2) Un-balanced forces (or at least a debate about it).
And inside in all of us lives the little gremlin that graves to use the "maximum" firepower in any fight. Sure it's fun for a while for you, but everyone knows that an even fight is much, much more satisfying in the long run.
And sure enough there are always indies willing to join the fray just to squeeze the trigger. Not much you can do about that.
The idea of setting up the plague/pharma event is great and could salvage the situation quite nicely. It would definately mark the "end" to this on-going row. Or if this is very succesfull repeat the event.
No constant larger scale action (or siege or whatever you really want to call it) is really possible here because factions lack manpower to keep this going 24/7. So planned events are clearly a good solution to this.

Our demands is that traders are allowed to take pharmaceuticals to Crete. Which your officers have denied, saying that that supports corsair criminal activities.
Really the only reason we bring in the heavy guns is not because we need them against the BPA, but if a fight goes on long enough, the BPA will call in bounty hunters, and 3 bounty hunter battlecruisers will come in.
Nothing I can do about that, like I said, I'll be toning down the cruisers, but we will always have a few gunboats in the party.
The OPG are not a new clan, they've been on this server for a while, but only recently found a revival in member, so yes most members are new.
I really look forward to a possible scheduled event. Any ideas on what it should be about?
Problem is.. You shouldn't have said that you are carrying it to the Corsairs..
Imagine this ..
You enter a gun store, and you want to buy a gun. Dealer thinks it's for self defense, he checks your license blabla and all..
And then all of the sudden, you tell him that you need that gun so you could rob a bank.
In RP no one would ever say to a lawful House military that he's working for their second worst enemy
So, it was actually your mistake if they asked you to drop cargo.
There are no rights for criminals as long as they are free.
If I was in that situation, I'd try to think of a story that would satisfy them.
Something like, I have that 'transponder' because Cambridge is crowded with Corsairs, and it's my safe-passage ticket trough it.
They think I'm a Corsair, while actually I'm a simple trader (or junker, or whatever).
I'm sure BPA wouldn't make much of a hassle if you made up the right story.
But you didn't, so you faced the consequences. From that point of view - it was you who started all this, not them.

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
