Ok jinx, do we have a name for this beast yet?

I'll go look up egyptian names and give some suggestions...

Here ya go, potential names that arent yet used for ship designs:

Amunet - female diety of air and cosmogony, depicted as a snake/cobra-headed woman.

Hathor- female solar diety, mother to the pharaoh, depicted as a cow - also a goddess of love and music

Horus- Falcon-headed male diety, son of Isis, god of upper egypt

Tefnut- Goddess of rain, clouds, and weather. Depicted as a cat or lioness.

Dont much like tefnut... the name sounds funny.

Amunet, Hathor, and Horus all sound good, what do you think?

oh, and to eternal:

Completely agreed. The zoner destroyer I fly right now has tons of firepower, but I absolutely hate the thing... even if it isnt a battleship it's still way too bulky and slow for me, and I honestly cant wait to replace it with a gunboat again (once one becomes available to the order that doesnt look like a rusted lunchbox).

Hathor was the Egyptian goddess of fertility,
inebriety, and music.

sex, drugs, and rock-an-roll... anyone?

Some say that he is allergic to a fungus found only between the toes of Corsairs,
and that he is oblivious to 98% of Liberty Law. All we know is...

He's called the Busdriver!

Bast/Bastet/Sehkmet were said to have influence in the same areas.

I think it's a seperation of northern and southern egyptian mythos. the north and south parts of egypt were divided for a very long time, and while both basically followed the same religion/dieties, they had differing names for each god/goddess.

For example, Sehkmet was worshipped in the north while Bastet was worshipped ni the south (I think, i may have the two mixed up). Both represented the same things - those that you listed (love, fertility, music, joy, etc.)

Where northern and southern egypt met, around the area of Beni-Hasan, the two were merged into a new goddess known as Pakhet - who also represented the same things.

All three were depicted as felines or human/feline hybrids. Sehkmet was seen as more of an agressive goddess, and was often depicted as a lioness. Bastet was more passive/peaceful and depicted as a domestic cat. Pakhet was depicted as a desert wildcat, which was a cross between the two.

Sorry, you got me ranting, i've always been a big fan of egyptian mythology =) Especially of those three goddesses in particular.

Hathor is fine with me, just dont use Bastet, as that's the name of my future gunboat =P

Which is why I didnt mention it other than in response to the egyptian mythology topic.

Sehkmet is a cool name, and it fits the bomber we've got being developed.

Wow. Nice design.
It sort of reminds me to the B5 Warlock class battleship.

I would like to see it on the disco mod.

I just had a brain-fart... I dont remember what I was about to say.........

Edit= oh yea, Hathor is actually depicted as a cow, her milk surposedly flows creating the Milky Way, which they belived was the god's version of the Nile which Ra and his queen/wife/ whateveryoucallit sailed on to get to the heavens. because of this and her nickname Mehturt (or "great flood" in Egyptian) she was considered of the undulation and flooding of the Nile each year.
