1 pirate- not naming. Follow the bread crumbs when I leave them:P
1 trader- Dercallic. (Its in my sig.. no need to hide that)
As a trader I have run and I have stayed. It usually depends on how well I feel I have a chance. But if they have Cruise disrupted me. I try to give them time enough to make their demands. Sorry folks but not all of us can type 20 words a min on our comp.. Trust me. If a Pirate says halt or die. and you don't halt. Well I don't blame them for beating you within an inch of your life. I will now follow this ideal. Sorry if the Wilde just blew you away. I was just trying to help the starving kids. And you weren't being so co-operative. For now I am going between different groups and learning the ropes. But I have been trading for a while.
As a trader here is my thoughts. If you RP it then I don't mind going along. I won't just cruise spam. (I live with the idea that you can destroy engines) I like to talk to Pirates. Sometimes I can bribe them to let me know if there are more along the route. There is RP potential for those who want to take the time.
DEon't you owe me 10mil. I saw you say you were coming to pay me back but the server went dead;. I'm not sure ..though....
The only thing I really don't like is the excessive bashing that ensues after a trader lands. Some of them just let you off with a "HAHA NOT TODAY!" "OC SCUM!"
But it gets too much when some damned trader starts telling me to learn how to pirate. Esspecially when the local authories jump in. One time a guy was calling me stupid and retarded mean while 2 gbs a cruiser and a bomber were jumping me. It's cool if you were smart in evading me but don't ****ing tell me how to do my **** when you haven't even flown anything other than a Freighter in the last 8 months.

Had I guy do that to my LH Gunship a while back when I got jumped by a Liberty BC. o.O
I killed him and took off, his death was more important than the money I demanded at that point.
Disclaimer: I have read none of this thread past the 3rd Page.
The fact of this matter is that every pirate on the forums already knew this. If they didn't, they didn't need to because traders stopped anyway and there was room for them to RP. I might be a biased pirate, and I might just be stupid, but the RP goes both ways. When there were always people who refused to RP, it became more obvious when the Admins made a notice regarding pirates, making it seem like there was a bias on the Admin side towards Traders.
The truth of the matter is, there is no or only little bias. The Admins do the best they can with the information they are given. If we look at the Admins, Two or Three have lead a Trade Faction (Hood = IND, AC Merc = RepEx, Vero = Synth Foods?), Four have lead a Pirate Faction (Xoria = Lane Hackers, Kurraine = Golden Chrysanthemums, Del = Liberty Rogues, Majkp = The Brotherhood), One has lead a Terrorist Faction (Kane = Phantoms), One has lead a Helper Faction (Caylith = Angels). If anything, there should be a bias towards Pirates or Terrorists.
The point is, there is no bias, or, at most, very little bias. The rule was already in place, it was just a reminder. What it did, though, was let some of the OoRP People think that pirates had to make a demand before anything happened, and began taking advantage of that situation and rule lawyering, as that was the affliction at the time of this declaration. Because of this, it became harder for pirates to RP correctly, like we're used to, because some OoRP traders think that the Admins were on their side. This, of course, if false, even if the rules do tilt a little bit on their side.
Now, all we can do about this, pirates, is report the heck out of people who don't want to RP on this server, just like before. Sanction the heck out of them. For those that get away, just snap your fingers and wait for the next one.
I would call for traders to be included in the PvP rules as well. To exclude them from it is nothing short of being unfair. There are more than enough in RP trade routes for any trader that can make a profit. If you think otherwise, look here. Post # 22.
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
' Wrote:You all need to stop saying that my post about this subject was "from an Admin", because it wasn't. I wasn't an Admin when I posted that. I wasn't even a global moderator. Go check the date on the post. I was a player just like anyone else, who was seeing a lot of fellow players do things that could get them sanctioned, and I provided ironclad and irrefutable proof of that by linking a sanction thread and an Admin statement on the subject.
The fact that none of you paid any attention to those facts proves beyond any doubt that no matter what the rules are some people are going to refuse to understand them.
There is no "new rule" and there is no "rule change". The rules have been the same for months and months, and nothing has been destroyed or disrupted by it.
The entire Lane Hackers faction operates as pirates following the rules as I described them, and our ability to pirate does not suffer for it in the slightest. If yours does, then your technique is at fault and its just a red herring to blame your failures on the rules.
There is never any reason that a pirate is forced into saying "2 million or die". You can simply say "drop all your cargo" and it accomplishes the same thing and possesses far more roleplay value for many different circumstances.
In any case, once I get done with the economic changes I'm working on, traders will almost always lose more credits by dying than by paying pirates (unless they relegate themselves to much less profitable routes). That alone will solve much of the issues with traders who don't value the welfare of their ship.
No matter what you do you cannot stop them from thrusting. Not all of us pirate in swarms. Also attacking someones technique is weak. I have plenty of takes but very very few since I started following the letter.
The fear of death is the tool to stop traders to 0kps not "out of criuse." at 1 kps you can jump at 0 you cannot that is the difference. A train being able to regen more than a gunboat and haveing about the same armor is a tad too formidable to stop with the time aloted to type something more interesting than "2 mil now."
Halt is a demand. Can you deny that it is realistic to say that a pirate would not harm or kill a non compliant trader? I see they would rather they die and get nothing then let a trader go and share data about them or even spoil thier rep among other pirates.
I just want piracy to be confirmed as unchanged. The way it has been since I got here. It was fine. There is no way to stop trader whiners. Most are new tradeing for the ship they really want or some other goal, with a strong sense of "win."
So while you may be uber pirates and I have only collected 500 mill in piracy in the last two months, I think this system is for everyone not just uber player of god like skill with super CDs that grant instant compliance and RP from traders. But I hate and am against the idea that a trader could sanction me for not saying "2 mill."
However I did not check the date I saw it come up for the first time since I have been here for nearly a year so, I took it as new. As for saying admin I really thought you said this as admin. I noticed this thread on Aug 13 2008, 11:13 AM. and read the whole thing but not dates as I saw the last date. I did not suspect the workings of a necrmoancer.
However I said admin as it is your current role and to not personalize it. I see nor have a critisized any one specifically. However there is both in your post. Critisize the skill of those who disagree and make the more impressionable not want to be identified by the phails. Lets keep this to the terms and not talk crap about others. If you want wait for me in Sigma 13 and TRY and pirate me by these rules, solo. Other wise dont talk crap about skill unless you want to put up. In fact use a gunboat because its so easy. Use a tool box cuz its so bad ass. You will not succeed with out cutting your RP, and then only maybe.
So, if this is all mute and piracy is not changeing then fine. I just want to say i have killed dozens of traders for failing to stop before I saw that. Stop is a demand. To think that one could say stop system wide and have clearance to kill every trader on sight is retarded. If one thinks that would fly better than a snow ball in hell then they are one of those folk that have no ability to decipher right and wrong with out it being written down. And less morally developed. That same logic says I can say 2 mill now and fire away. We know that is wrong so what is the problem of makeing the jump back over to another similar interaction.
Unless the person is impaired or just argueing for the sake of being opposition, or a party line tower. Just on the side of the author because. But not because of facts and logical extrapolation.
In short will a pirate get sanction for an encounter like this?
Me: "Halt trader_x! CD Pew pew pew" Trader: Criuses
Me: "Halt Trader-X! CD pew pew pew" Trader: Criuses
Trader-X refuses. Pew pew pew pew pew, BOOM!
Trader_x says "thats against rulez Im going to report!!!!!!"
I'm not going to read all this im just going to post my opinion. I can see this from both sides, as i have a trader Capt.Noobius and a pirate (of whom i am NOT going to name because of RP reasons) If a pirate demands an amount that i dont have I am first going to RP my way out as best i can, if not i run, however most new members to the discovery community make traders first because its the fastest safest way to make money. So, this being the case they dont have much RP experience and they just go, "uh oh, what do i do? ahhhhh run! Don't say anything to him just try to get away!" at this point, if a Pirate has said halt 5 times this is where i say BOOM goodbye.
What i interpreted this "rule change" or "individual interpretation of the rules" w.e. as, is that you cannot kill someone for just saying halt 10000 times, you can bring them within .99999999999 inchs of their life, but cant kill them without demanding money. so, i dont see why its so hard to say, "now that your almost dead, give me 100000000 credits or ima kill ya"
' Wrote:Fellow hoodlum sanctioned this as a lame tactic and sited that it would not be in RP either. As Jump drives would require time to charge between jumps. But there is no rule against it.
So can I write a sanction report, stating this is OORP and get a sanction for it, how many screens do I need? as traders seem to be doing that... i've got two seperate traders jumping back and forth...

Rp + solo sabre pirating = many traders escaping. Not all of them, but many. I expect this, I'm fine with it. I find it slightly amusing though, when I've disrupted them, nuked the hell out of them (takes a while) and then a battlegroup turns up. I withdraw, as is sensible and I'm called a nub.
Is the trader somehow disappointed?
Was death by a veteran at the command of a gunboat their deepest desire?
What's the big ruckus. If someone just flies away "lolling" it not really worth my time or RP.
Mostly I avoid this kind of thing because when I enter a system I make a statement along the lines of "ladies and gentlemen get your wallets ready. I'll be right there to collect a donation of 500k..."
This way everybody knows the name of the game. I get surprisingly many RP encounters, those busy-bee traders avoid me and I'm generally happy.
For me it's not really about money, but interaction. I don't make insane demands so I think it's fair game.
I even had one suicidal char attacking my bomber in Humpback. Can you believe it?! He took pot shots at me because I was engaged by a Cruiser patrol. He had his fun, but it almost cost him his life.
If you see my forum name then you know who my pirate is.
I know it can be a hassle for the admins, but I think this needs to be decided on a case by case basis. When a trader refuses to stop and then insults a pirate on private com through the next 2 systems, I think he deserves to be blasted on site..........just my opinion, but I still wouldn't do it without ordering him to halt and probably firing a CD.
I do know why the traders are upset as well however, because there can be just as much of a lack of RP from some of the pirates. As a trader, I had a pirate fire on me. He refused to stop firing after I agreed to pay and then destroyed my ship while the transfer window was open on my screen. A trader has a right to be pissed when that happens.
Also, if you were really good as a trader, you would know how to avoid pirates for the most part. Every one is whining about sigma 13. I fly through all the time and I have only been stopped one time. I know how not to present my ship as a target. I can change my route, figure out where the pirates are and go around. It takes a little longer but it is safe.
I don't trade to make money. I have no interest whatsoever in owning a BS. I trade because it is fun. Nowadays I do more smuggling because it is more fun. There aren't enough pirates around anymore and it just isn't fun if there is no one to sneak past. If all you want is to fly back and forth and never be messed with, I think you are in the wrong place.
