Look, don't give up. Look around for some RPers... We are around somewhere. And I can say reading the OP that you were not very lucky, any RP there would only lead you to the start of a blue msg. Its really sad, but it happens.
But there are people interested in RP in this server. I am one of them. Duncan (dunc-) that already posted here is another. Usually his ships don't even have guns. With a little "research" you will find out who RPs and who only wants blues.
But don't give up! We need RPers!
Also, before considering any comments posted here, you should look players name on the sanctions section. You will understand much better some of the posts here.

Time to improve the "naming conventions" section then.
Problem is that very often sense of name is made by the fact who has it. Poop Torpedo is not problem for me when it is name of Rogues ship because they have plenty of provocative names and for me it suits their nature to provoke law enforcers this way. I can even imagine that inRP some of their ships would have really nasty names using swear words, obvious racism and such, but this is not possible due to server rules.
On the other hand, no navy ship should ever carry such name. LNS-Poop Torpedo or RNC-Strudel really are immersion breaking.

"Sir that ain't a role play name for your WWII bomber, you must use your name and surename" http://web.mit.edu/btyung/www/nickname.html
Names not matter how stupid wouldn't kill your will to RP.
I never said anything about forcing strict "name.surname" names.
Callsigns, even humorous ones, are fine.
What isnt fine is using callsigns that are obviously OORP, vulgar, trolly, and obviously only not being changed by admins because of who uses them.

If you want to just chat chat then you can always take it to skype or something.
This community at the moment simply has somewhat too few people to really have a good grip on RP anyway.
I guess with that you mean the OP, and I +1 that.

What is not nice is going for easy blues with dropping mandatory two lines, because some players - if it wasn't obligatory - would be pretty eager do that without said line.
On the other hand, roleplay isn't only focused onto fighting and killing. It is also supply runs, "boring" flight as a trader or being just next to the Freeport and chatting with people inRP - not to mention exploration efforts and many other things that are possible to do within Disco.

And if this is the case, I'm sorry, but you alone proven my point right, making me less and less interested into Disco.
It is saddening that Disco is by many people treaten like a DOTA or LoL, where pure skills or better stuff matter. "Roleplay? Who needs that silly s**t? I came for blues, loser."

There will be always those people and you have to deal with it when this is the last really active server. Of course there can be made "PvP 24/7" server and I think there even was one in the past, but result will be simple - both of them will have lower player count and you will even sooner get feeling that this place is dead when on RP server will be like 20-40 people in evening peeks instead of current 40-80 (and sometimes even over 100 during weekends evenings or events). By the way, you may don´t like it but it is fact that PvP events are the thing which attracts the most people. Just look at online list during those "just PvP events" like those in Omicrons or Omegas recently. Is it bad? I don´t think so. Because some of them will continue playing after the event is over, creating opportunity for interaction and roleplay. Again, not all of those who like PvP are not doing RP.

Why? If you plan just to chat with somebody, skype is actually better platform for it. First, Freelancer interface is annoying when lenght of text is limited, you can´t correct typos etc. Second, when you hang somewhere with someone talking, you never know when someone other appears and interrupt the meeting with shooting for example. Lot of good roleplay is made over skype and there is nothing wrong on it. I have spent many hours doing it and I had great times and enjoyed it.
I though in-game roleplay is what does matter, but when you need Skype to have your roleplay, it means it is not roleplay server. Just a server for Skype roleplay consequences. If this would be the case, we could already drop Disco and start working out our own sci-fi universe for roleplay on Skype.
This is how I understand what you wrote, Laura.
Because, if you need Skype for roleplay that should take place in game, something is not really right.

No, your fun is what matters. Or you play Disco for the sake of just playing Disco without having any fun and entertainment from it? You are wasting your time then and you will continue to be bitter because you have personal Disco crisis like lot of us had. I recommended you to take a break, maybe you should think about it again, it really helps, I can testify that. Took one for around three months back in the past.
You will have troubles until you will realize that this is not hardcore RP server and it never will be. Many people already told you that. Either you will deal with it and find your ways to find your fun and RP with people who share your view and likes to RP because this is the only way how RPer can stay here for long, or it will be just pain and disappointment for you.

Really? So for example this is not roleplay? Or should I feel bad it was made over skype instead of sitting in ships docked in freeport ingame, using annyoing game text interface? Though there would be a good thing on it, I would have grind so much logged time for faction activity check by doing this RP event ingame.
