Disagreements were had, but it's natural to expect to get what I give, so in that respect, I take responsibility for the downward spiral.
For the most part though, I did my best to keep it on topic. Flaws & all.
I'm given to wonder...what would it be like if the server had a "swear-rule" free weekend?
I can guess with a fair bit of accuracy, but y'know, if a group of doctors back in the day didn't ask, "Hey! What's this fungus?" we wouldn't have penicillin today.
On one hand, it could turn out to fall under the "Be careful what you wish for" category, or fall under the "Fortune favors the bold" category.
Either way, a 48 hour risk ain't gonna kill anyone.
Just sayin'
Maybe ask the Admins to post a "Removal of swear filter test" vote and if 70% or better go for trial use of vulgarity inRP for like a week or more like a month then do the trial to see if Disco Members are able to conduct themselves well inRP with removal of swear filter. I hope Admins emphasize in the post that if it gets out of hand at anytime then they reserve the option to reinstate the filter.
It will probably go okay for a while then inevitably someone will blow a lid, have a bad day, have a negative reaction on new meds or some new members with bad temperament will screw it up for everyone else. Keep in mind that this would be an added headache for Disco oversight personel to have to monitor something the filter already takes care of doing.
Out of curiosity for the outcome of this kind of test I would vote "Yes". Hey Admins, how about giving it an opportunity to prove this topic out? If it goes south even well after any "Test" run then you will always have solid evidence against removing swear filter if anyone in the future brings this topic up again. It would settle the issue forever.
